My brother and I are about to start a Der Kessel H2H campaign. What settings should we use. We are equally veteran players, he will be the germans.

We are currently playing Stalingrad H2H and my poor russkis have taken a beating. We had both sides set to Elite difficulty, and I took a while to learn the units worth, especially regarding AT rifles and LMGs.

Should Der Kessel be run H2H on regular difficulty on both sides, or both sides Elite or what? What diference will it make? We use 15 mins timer with all options ticked (i think)

I recommend elite vs. elite.

The german player need to watch for his limited guns and tanks.
The Russian will have superiorty on any setting

usually difficulty settings change size of forceppols. Elite vs. Elite smaller BG etc...

elite elite works best for me, so evrybody is playing caucious with his resources.
Russian support will be most difficult thinkg for germans. Russian will need to take care of clear supply road for fuel and ammo.

have fun

I would suggest the following:
German - line or Vet
Russian - Vet or Elite

15 min battles
moral off
no initiative
2 min warning when all VL's taken

I wont have much time for any practice in SDK so is there anything i need to watch out for. Any good russian units i need to learn about? Or for that matter any deadly german units out there?

How does mortar suppression of AT guns work? effective or useless?
Will AT guns one shot kill t34s quickly or only heavy AT?

Playing with morale and initiative off detracts a lot from games In my opinion.

turn it off in this mod, otherwise the Roumanians will be kicked of every map in one turn

6th Army high command will do everything in its power to ensure this comment doesn't reach its Romanian allies...

That is sort of what really happened right? I'm just starting up a game vs the
Russian AI and I am going to try leaving it on. Time to save 6th Army Very Happy .

Since the question was for H2H play, morale OFF is correct.

I agree that vs the AI leaving morale on is a good idea.

There are TOO many single player coawrds out there who don't have the balls to come and play h2h. But I do understand the fear. I was scared half to death fighting a stranger h2h the first time and getting clobbered. I also played some morons who stacked the battles so badly in their favor that it left a bad taste in your mouth. Even fighting my first war was a scary experience. BUT once you've played h2h several times and get over the fear there's really no turning back to playing a STUPID AI opponent.

SO LOG ON TO GAMESPY ARCADE and come and fight some real battles.

I leave morale on for H2H. It means you must use your leader units wisely, and reflects weakness of reserve units etc better.

Having played all Romanian units over the course of the first day, i.e. 4 rounds of the 19th November, only one has been routed, with morale on. Lascar's 6th Infantry is doing well, I withdrew the 1 Armoured Div. Italians are in a spot of bother but have survived the first day's pounding.

Blimey the Soviet support is irrepresible.
