Hi,

is it possible to give a soldier in a unit a fix lastname?

You can edit the soldiers last names within these three files:
GENames.txt (German)
RuNames.txt (Russian)
USNames.txt (American)

C:\Program Files\SSI\Close Combat Invasion Normandy\Data\Base\

Replace the existing names only!, do not add to the list.

Always backup your files before modifying them.

but it isn ´t possible to give a member of a special MGteam a fix name right?

why can´t I add a new name? Are there too many names? Or will the game crash?

You can add names...as long as you edit the first line in the XXXnames.txt (=equals the total number of lines/names).
Using a spreadsheet to edit the txt file is easier...you can use the @sum formula to count the total names.

Names for team are chosen at random by the game...you can't assign individual soldier names. You can however edit the Team Names to your liking.

Isn't it possible to edit a saved campaign file to rename a particular soldier?
