I would be very grateful if somebody could help me with a minor issue, but one which is gettin frustrating for me. I'm not sure if this is in the right place to ask, but here goes:
I've been a CC fan for years, but recently dug out my old copy of CC5:Invasion Normandy and wanted more of a challenge, so I've also downloaded a few mods from this fine site, and I'm having a great ol' time. I need to have a few things verified about the difficulty settings though.
When starting a new campaign, on single player (I don't play online... yet) I'm confused as to where to set the sliders too when setting the difficulty and "Force strength". Let's say I want to play as the Allies and have the hardest game possible, a really difficult campaign against hardcore Nazi's. Am I right in thinking I set the Allied strength to "Elite" and not "Recruit", as if Elite means "HARD MODE" and I the German strength to "Recruit" and not "Elite"? It seems a little backwards, as the obvious way to get a harder game would be to set my troops to Recruit and the enemies to Elite, but I've heard that's wrong.

Also, I'm playing on the Bloody Omaha mod with USvetmod as the Americans... I can see quite a bit of difference, but the Germans are still not too hard to beat, but I think this may be because I have my side set to "Line" (in the middle) and the enemy on "Elite." (Thinking doing that makes the enemy soldiers elite.)
Could somebody please clarify to me what I should set the sliders at to get the hardest, toughest, most difficult war I've ever experienced on CC please?
Thanks in advance.

Oh, and does playing Bloody Omaha with the USvetmod on overwrite the sliders anyway? Cheers.

The difficulty settings in CC tend to change the type of units, number of units and experience/morale of units available. An Elite player would tend to get worse units, less units and units with lower experience/morale. Recruit is the opposite.

The difficulty settings usually work in most vetmods too. So you should still play as Elite and the AI as Recruit.

Thanks for clearing that up, it's a big help. So I was right in thinking I've been playing it on "Easy mode" for want of a better word, all along. Booo. Now I'll have to start new campaigns on Elite setting.

I'm wondering how exactly difficulty values in registry affects gameplay. At lvl 3 (max) opponents tends to be almost immortal and my soldiers are dying almost constantly when shooting starts.
