After playing for around 35 minutes

The temperature crept up to 54 degrees c then settled down to 49 degrees c

Hardware monitor
-----------------------------------------------------

GeForce 7800 GS hardware monitor

Temperature sensor 0 49°C (120°F) [0x31] (GPU Core)

Will still keep monitoring

Thanks for the test report, Shreck.
My 8600GT's temp shot up from 61-62 to 90-93 deg c playing WAR...that's pretty hot for a 2D engine.
Any ATI users?

I've got and ATI Radeon 9600 AIW...I'll take a look

I have one Nvidia 9600GT and I have not seen a strange temperature playing, it is over 50 and near 60 as on many other games. But I have seen one higher temperature on CPU, all the cores werer over 45º. You can think that it is not too strange but I have one Antec P182 computer case and one Schyte Ninja installed on my CPU. Normally they are not over 40º. But I have not problems with all this because the CPU max temperature is 70º.

Keep 'em coming, guys...
So far NVidia 7600GT and 8600GT are the ones affected.
It doesn't reboot my PC or anything like that...but 90-93 deg for a 2D engine is strange.

I have no problems with CPU temp.

I haven't been able to find a monitoring program that supports my old Radeon 9600, so I won't be of any help

I think that your graphics card has the fan full of dust and it can not ventilate well.
And I think that you are wrong if you think that one 2D engine is less powerfull, yes this game has low hardware requeriments but CCWAR load thousands of tga images, more than many other games. And TGA is not a compressed file.

But good as I told you, I do not see nothing strange on graphics card, 60º are well, 66º is the max on my 9600GT. I will try test it later on one old 7600GT that I have.

I have an XFX 8600GT...and I know this card has heat issues...but I've been using it for quite some time now without probs...my PC is well maintained and the fans are working okay.
The problem is WAR makes my 8600GT hot just like when running the latest 3D Games (I'm also playing bouts of the latest BiA, Crysis and CoD4).

I've tested playing CC4-CC5...and my XFX 8600GT temp only rises 1-2 deg from idle temp.
CC4-CC5 is the same game...it also loads thousands of tga images Smile
WAR made the temperature shot up 30 degrees from idle temp...that's not normal.

At the Matrix forum someone with a 7600GT has the same problem...so it might affect only certain VGA cards...unfortunately my 8600GT is one of them Sad
Could also be a problem with the drivers.

I will test it on my daughter's PC with a 7300GT.

I find normal that when you are playing GPU is a bit more hot. It is not normal. But it is not neccesary that the game be 3D.

CC4-CC5 is not the same game because they have not the same ia proccess by example.

I recomend you upgrade to the last drivers, they are the 178.24.

That is the general rule, my friend.
When playing semi 3D games (but graphically intensive) like Blitzkrieg...the GPU temp doesn't rise as high as playing new heavy 3D games for example.

I am using the latest drivers...this new driver might actually be the problem.
I might try rolling back to a previous driver (but then I won't be able to play BiA Hell's Highway).

WAR is using the CC5 engine...the only difference/enhancement is compatibility with new OS and modern computers...and higher res support. Graphics, effects etc is exactly the same as CC5.

BTW, WAR is not causing heat problems for your GPU, Shreck's or Tack's.
So the problem might only affect certain cards...so far 8600GT and 7600GT.
WAR works fine on my Laptop (with a lowly ATI Radeon Express 200M)...but I can't take a temp reading of this GPU.

If it is the same, why the vehicle movement, the ai and many more things are different? yes, war has many from cc5 but it is not the same.

Same engine with some tweaks and minor changes...and graphically exactly the same.

Sorry for the delay, N_Steiner...
I was at work Smile
Anyways...I have a non-wide 20" LCD...widescreens are more popular...but I prefer non-wide for wargaming Very Happy
Here are the screenshots you asked for.

I know one map has 2700 trees, that may not be the most forested though.

I got Radeon x1950 and this bloody game COMPLETLY hangs my computer. It goes black and I have to restart... Thanx for this thread - now I know at least what is going on :/

This card is pretty good - I have finished Crysis and Fallout 3 so any game with engine from the year 2000 SHOULD work properly... I got temp over 93degrees and then computer hangs

To make things clear: fan on the card is clean.
