Just curious to know what people think/have experienced in their H2H campaigns in WaR. Ie, if things are progressing somewhat (or not happening) historically like the actual battle and reasons why/why not, ie is the game balanced (BG Fpools), or not balanced to achieve historical results?, or did you or your opponent drink too much vodka and make some mistakes? dog eat your homework?, etc

I had a couple H2H campaigns going against 2 opponents, line vs line, one as germans, one as US, and had gotten between 6-8 days into the GC. Here are some of our opinions/suggestions so far;

Near impossible for KG Peiper to breakthrough and push through to La Gleize in the first couple of days as did historically unless the US gives an Mp escort, IMO this more a function of the map pathing. Fairly easy for the US to block german advance in the north. As it stands you either have to go N through Butgenbach or down through Recht. IMO, there should be a connection from Meyerode to either Malmedy or stavelot. Based on maps and the actual route of the KG(correct me if I am wrong) there should be a connection through meyerode.

Briefly looking at the order of battles and what was attached to some of the german Armored battle Groups, several of the arm. German BGs seem understrength in their infantry allotment.

Maybe the 14th calvary, 422nd, and 423 should be slightly weaker or have lesser quality units to simluate the fact that they were thinly stretched and outflanked early on in the battle. Not sure what the answer is here.

7th armored should be allowed to reinforce,to better represent what they had attached and also have more staying power for the defense around St Vith. There is only one 7th BG in the game, but CCB, CCA were deployed around St Vith, and CCR was in reserve around Vielsalm. A couple of the US Bgs eg 30th div, 26th, should prob get more tanks,

Germans having 5 recon groups, seems like a couple of of these groups should be changed, eg one specificaly in mind is the 2nd ss by turning it into more of an Armored/Pz Gren BG to better represent the division historically.

I have a few more suggestions regarding the German Bgs and a couple US BGs, but will leave those out for now.

Also, I think at a minimum Disbanded BGs should lose 20%, IMO I think this should be the setting on line and maybe more like 30-40% on Elite. I thought about modding the Fpools to replace the elite quantities with the line or vet ones for a GC so that one could essentially play at the line/vet level but still incur the 20% loss if their BG is disbanded unless changing the levels and % is easier, I am not sure if this can be modded by anyone but matrix, but i dont know.

I know no game is every completely perfect, but I am curious to know ideas/suggestion of what people think can be done to better allow the possibility to experience what generally happened historically.
