Hey, I recently purchased CC5 after a good 3 year break from CC3. I'm not sure which settings to use whilst playing. Do you guys use the time limit option? I was intially but the AI seems to take a very long time moving around the map. If I don't make use of one of the special weapons does it return to my stockpile after combat? I'm playing the stalingrad mod btw.

Welcome! I think the most used settings for singleplayer is You -Hero, Enemy -Recruit, timer 15 minutes and force morale on.

Damaged from years of CC5 playing the AI is sometimes real stupid. There are different vetmods made but my opinion is that you still have the same AI.

The two new updated CC games Wacht am Rhein and The longest Day is using a uppdated CC5 engine and the Ai is improved but you still can see stupid Ai behavior even in these.

Welcome to the world of Close Combat and remember to tell your wife or girlfriend that the life will be changed forever Razz

Thanks for the snappy reply. Why recruit? I've read that only affects the number of troops the AI has to choose from? Yes it's a little dissapointing, it seems extremely unreaslistic that a full days battle would last only 15 minutes but I simply don't have the patience to watch the AI edge its way towards me. Still very much enjoying anyway, but an improved AI would be nice. Might be worth investing in the latest games.

In the newest release difficulty settings can change anything from number/quality of troops to different units and to how much off board support is available.

You will find the AI puts up a noticeably stronger performance with better co-ordinated attacks and improved use of terrain features..... the changes arent huge but are noticeable.

cheers

Recruit gives the AI more and better troops (in the standard game)
