Thanks Hemul, the game looks interesting, I'll check it out - looking for a new game after my CoD ps3 bad experience

"The developers of Achtung Panzer: Kharkov 1943 chose one of the most interesting campaigns of WWII as a background for their strategygame. Altough 'background' is probably not the right word in this case. For Achtung Panzer (AP) the developers chose for Total Realism. This game is not for the feebleminded quick-clicking, action-addicted teenager but for the connoisseurs of tactical combat simulations.
Their definition of Total Realism goes a few steps further however; the developpers live in Karkov so they know the area like the inside of their pockets. Countless period military records have been used to recreate the Kharkov area and, as I hope, the city itself as well. Best of all, you will use the original maps to plan your strategy in a turn-based mode after which you fight in 3D and real-time. Or so I gathered from the not very clear presentation of the game."

"I expect something a bit similar to Close Combat but then in 3D. But well, I never played CC although I have read some very nice AARs on it in the OT. Next to this focus on strategy I expect the game to be rather complex as well. I don't hope it will be as complex as, for example, TOAW (the operational art of war) as it doesn't look like I will be having a manual at the moment."

this game is for me the dignified successor of Close Combat with a good AI, tactical phase, realism and big maps (and problem of pathfinding... as CC Wink ! If the community of this game grows as CC, it can become the best game of its category.

Me didn;t like it.
Combat Mission is much better IMO.
Still both lack H2H GC....

this game is really not focused on infantry.  When i heard that the devs compared it to CC I was immediately curious.  I played the demo and was somewhat disappointed with the infantry behavior.

Dont get me wrong, i really like the game.  especially, the super large maps but would consider it the successor to CC.

the upcoming Combat Mission Normandy may be the true successor to CC.  then again, i've been waiting for the next cc for a long time and chances are it may never come, unless the original developers get together and make another one.

can anyone tell me how much investment is need to accomplish such a feat.

The original developers made first to fight I don't think anything more needs be said.

Been reading some reviews and seeing the screenshots and videos for the past week, man this looks amazing, I'm in the process of upgrading my video card just so I can play this, also the game is 50% off this week at http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-APK1943/achtung-panzer-kharkov-1943 ($10!)and I don't know if I should buy it right now even though I can't play it currently. But 10$ is good deal regardless I think.

I just bought it for $20. The reviews were in the range of 7 to 9 out of 10 on all the places I seen. Downloading now.... at a slow 450k/sec.

I need to check this game out.  Sounds like the reviews here are pretty solid.

Well I bought it and did not like it. Maybe if I gave it some more time to learn the camera controls and everything else I may like it. For me it was not intuitive to catch on. The interface and look of the game were not my style either.

The screenshots you see online are nice. But really if you zoom in that close to see a tanks paint and detail job you cant see whats going on, you need to stay zoomed out where the detail is lost to see the battle.

If I could I would try to get my money back.

Yep, same for me, I wasn't even able to order my AT guns to shoot, they just kept on moving them forward...
Hopefully, I hadn't bought it yet...

Decided to post these here since I own AP:K1943 not AP:OS.

All from an ongoing Operation where I have already lost an armored group. PzIV tanks seem like Tigers! or maybe my T-34 didn't have very good optics. So many great moments had, very viscious fighting!
