I would like to create my own custom mod for CC5 that would give me two things; maps and forces of my choosing. In order to do this I was thinking I could just mix and match components from other mods available. Essentially I want to add later force pools with a mix of maps found in CC5, Juno/Gold, and Utah. Now to do this I need to know where to begin essentially by understanding what the different files contain. Now I can easily assume I need to replace/modify the following:

1.) Force pools
2.) Graphics for force pools...do I simply replace Tanks.azp, Wrecks.azp, and Guns.azp?
3.) Map index

Now if I copy say the FP's (force pools) from say the Vet/Ardennes mod, then of course I would have to have the graphics for the vehicles. I would also want to add in the way in which these vehicles operate (i.e. I like the 2cm German vehicles and how they fire, along with the Sherman Calliope. Now if this is a simple matter of pulling certain number of files from this mod, and simply replacing then fine. But I would need to know which files.

Second part is the maps. There are certain maps in each game/mod that I have always enjoyed, and always hated. I would like to have a game where it contains all of my maps that I truly enjoy. So looking through the folder of files in any given mod I see Index.mpi, with a list of map names. If a given mod's strategic map has 20 maps, with a Index.mpi listing 20 map names, should it suffice to simply replace the names? Is this simply the file names minus the extension?

Lastly, if I wanted to use VetBob's strategic map, but alter it somewhat, where do I find this file? How or what would I use to edit it?

Ultimately, all that you want to do is possible but break it down into smaller stages and take your time.

If you want to use the VetBoB stratmap then make that the starting point. Fit the "new" maps to it by altering the Index file, copying in all the new maps you want, deleting the ones you don't want and fixing the btds.

The forces are a seperate question. You'll need a spreadsheet of some description and quite possibly a workbook. If you decide to take the workbook route read Senior Drill's advice (about backing up) first.

Make small changes and test frequently. Nibble and tinker in the direction of your dreams rather than make sweeping changes which will invariably result in disaster.

You'll need Mafi's tools for the vehicle graphics.
