Hey guys!

Been playing CC for ages, mostly singleplayer due to the fact that i suck at this game Wink
I'm curious about this new version and the differences, from what i understand there is a brand new GC but apart from that and some cosmetic effects that game is pretty much the same.

Big question is though, have they fixed multiplayer? Do you still have to go to command and reload all the time or has that actually been fixed?

Regards,

Petter

Amazing! I finally decided to buy the game (after payday and some financial agony) and am now doing the digital download. I'm on a 100mbit connection and i work with tech support so I know how to handle this kind of stuff. Seriously matrixgames, 50kb/sec... seriously.... I'm thinking of waiting for the disc to arrive in the mail instead  Evil or Very Mad

I finally got around to buying the game and started a H2H grand campaign with a friend. Unfortunately we can't get past the first map because the game keeps crashing on us all the time. I get the windows error message and the program closes. We both have the latest patch and LAN connections, no routers or anything like that. We're using the games own multiplayer tool.

Advice would be greatly appreciated since this game is currently unplayable H2H.

Can you post more details regarding your connection.

Your operating systems

When the crash occurs exactly

How you connect

which of you is hosting

etc.

The game it's self has no issues H2H and plays very well... the only problems would be with your systems internet.

Thanks for the speedy reply schrecken!

We both work in tech support so it's a blow to the ego asking for help here, but you are after all more experienced when it comes to CC ;)

We both run Vista, my friend is the one hosting and he runs Vista 64bit. We're both on 100mbit LAN connections connection without routers or firewalls.

We connect through the game interface (the multiplayer button in the menu, UDP) and we get to the battle fine, the crash seems to occur immediatly when the battle ends, when morale breaks och time runs out. I'm not too sure about this but we usually get to the thick of the fighting before the problem occurs and i'm sure i can see one of those long, grey bars in the middle of the screen usually indicating that the battle has ended.

Feel free to move this to tech support if this thread is better suited for that forum.

Again, thanks for the help!

So each time it gets to the end of the battle?

Does your friend wait for the results data to transfer to each computer before exiting? (sometimes there can be a bit of a wait)

Yes, that is what I assume as the time varies but it usually crashes in the thick of the fighting when someone is expected to break. I'm not too sure though, could just be random crashes 10-20 min into the game.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean with waiting for the dat transfers. Are you referring to timing your clicks when you're on the strat map?
We never get to actually finish a battle. Actually we did once when we played a single battle but not since we started the GC.

At the end of each battle the HOST computer sends the battle results to the CLIENT computer.

if this data stream is broken, then crash.

Interesting setup you have though.

How have you gone about connecting to a  LAN if you don't have a router?

How are both PC IP addresses determined?

Additionally are you sure windows firewall is turned off?

Sorry for the internal lingo Very Happy
With LAN i mean a 100mbit fiber connection.

We managed to play a few battles today with me hosting. No crashes. Got me thinking it could be an issue with Vista 64bit. Everything works fine now though.

Thanks a LOT for the help schrecken!
