Well I've dug out my old CC3 GW sub-mod: AIF - The Western Front after many,many years of lying dormant and now it's long overdue to get completed and it doesn't need too much to finish but I need some help remembering what to do for some graphics work I need to complete - it's been at least 8 years since I did any CC graphics mod work!!

1) There are a couple of gun graphics I want to change. I've run the zfx program to unpack the guns.zfx file but I don't have nntpack to covert the nnt files to bmp. Where can I DL nntpack from? I can't find it anywhere anymore....or is there another program that I can use?

2) I did some work on a couple of Gadget0 buttons but when I repacked the tga's the graphics didn't work in-game. I seem to remember that they need to be a certain bit-type? When I save the files using my graphics program they are turning out larger then they should be, ie byte-wise...

any help would be greatly appreciated...

OK after digging around the net I found G.O.D's old CC links site which has a working link to Konrad's Polish (?) site and this still has a working link for TinTin's NNT and his NNTPack tools which I've DLed - just had to trawl through a few links to find them as it's all in Polish.

Here's the link to the site:

Konrad's Close Combat III tools

Wow  I can't believe this stuff is still lurking around after so long!

Still need to know if there is a particular file type I need to save tga's in...

Further research and work has led me to discover that NNTPack doesn't work with the unpacked files from the guns.zfx... So, is the only way to change gun graphics is the method in Dreaded_88's gun guide, ie changing the header in a tga file with a hex editor then repacking the zfx file?

Also, I now know that I need to be using 16 bit tga's but I don't have a graphics program that saves tga's as 16-bit. Does anybody know of a free graphics program I can download that will save tga's as 16-bit?

Sapper use Mafi's RtB tool to unpack graphics and other stuff, it unpacks all 8 or so images per vehicle so you can have tilted effect provided you have the time to make them for all of them!

Thanks for the replies guys.

@Buf
I've sent you a PM.

@Kanov
Looking at the description for RTBtool it looks like it doesn't work with CC3 files. Is this correct as I'm wanting to mod CC3 Gadget0 and guns.zfx files.

I have RtB tool open and I'm seeing a lot of options for CC3 under the File menu. It says it can extract nnt/nnh files for tanks and guns. For CC3 Gadgets I think you need gadgetmunger.

@Kanov

RtB Tool is great!
It actually has the ability to convert BMP's to 16-bit TGAs so all my problems are over...it took no time at all to add the new buttons I wanted to Gadget0 and I have started playing around with the Guns.zfx graphics.

Once again thanks for the heads up on that one  :D

@Tejszd

It's good to be back modding and I'm surprised and pleased to see a CC community still kicking.

Sapper_D! How the hell are you? Robo told me you were back and posting on cc websites. Great to see you still slogging it out in the trenches again. I'm still in touch with Fish by the way.

No modding for me I'm afraid - I've actually done some work on a game which was released a few months ago. Its American Civil War rather not WW1 but you can't have everything. http://www.norbsoftdev.com/ - I made the sprites and some of the graphics.

Drop me a line and let me know how you are.  Very Happy

Cheers

Tim
