The book written by Karl Marlantes featured in the film is Matterhorn, a fictional account based on his experience there.

Couple of nice Wehrmacht clips. If viewed in Youtube can be seen in higher def (720p). The guy who uploaded those has plenty more in his channel.

Thanks a lot

A weird thing is that some videos cannot be seen in France. They are censored for inadequate content !

More vids from the same guy's channel that Recondo vid is from. If you check out his channel you'll find plenty more war - related vids.

A couple more from his channel about the Vietnam war.

In Desperate Battle: Normandy 1944
   Brian McKenna,
   1992,
   103 min 30 s

This documentary looks at the events of June 6, 1944, when a combined force of American, British and Canadian troops landed on the beaches of Normandy. The Allied invasion of occupied France was a turning point in the war against Hitler's Germany. From a tactical view, Canada's role was limited; strategically, it was pivotal. Part of the 3-part series The Valour and the Horror.

My opinion: excellent documentary.

This video is only in German, so sadly no subtitles, however, it is still quite interesting. A bit historical detailed information on the tank it self and some cool snippets as well. For instance at 14:15, a Tiger drive slowly through a building.

6 Parts. Really interesting video. You get a good view of the German held ridge line at the beach. Tuff area to assault. A killing zone.

Also, I found an additional link to a book on the topic, with a more detailed casualty report, involving;

1st Infantry Division (1346)
29th Infantry Division (1272)
V Corps/First Army Units (1568)
U.S. NAVY/Coast Guard/Royal Navy (539)
Eight Air Force (10)

Grand Total 4700 casualties at Omaha beach, thus not the 3000 as described in most books and movies.:

I found a part one to that MF_Church Thanks!

To imbed a Youtube; when in youtube select SHARE then OPTION select LONG LINK copy and paste using the YOUTUBE button here on a CCS forum posting page. Imbeding them allows you to see at a glace that it is still working link. When they are not working link they usually appear as a blank black screen.

Some of these clips get removed for copyright or owners removing them etc. I updated most of the posts on this thread last night so go back and check the older posts some are gone others added. A full version of Fog of War and a new Commanders at War is up as well. Enjoy, while they are online. Thanks.
