This option does not work (Campaign.txt):

# BGs retreat on rout (0 = disband on rout, 1 = retreat on rout)
1

What do I need to do to get it working?
Maybe it only works in certain situations (example - save units on the lost map)?
Is this related to # Axis 'home' direction?
When BG should appear?

Cheers, nikin

For a BG to retreat it must hold an exit to a friendly map with less than 2 BG!s when its morale breaks (so force morale must be on for it to work)  and the penalty for the morale break will make it lose its remaining VL locations.

Tejszd are you sure this is TLD not LSA behaviour? Remember TLD doesnt have stacking battle-groups anyway.

Other players including Dima have told me that in TLD any routed BG should retreat to an empty map even if 'force morale' is disabled.

I was basing on Nikin's account as he's playing as the germans - looks like it doesn't work like that Smile.

Hi Nikin,

For that rule to be implemented you MUST have force morale on.  Do you?

Here are the rules concerning it.

17.6 RetReat
Battle  Groups will  retreat  when  routed  from  a  map  (due  to  morale  failure)  only  under  the
following circumstances:
The battle ends because of a force morale failure;   »
The losing Battle Group holds at least one exit    »
Victory Location when the battle ended;
The exit Victory Location(s) held by the losing Battle Group is    »
connected to an empty map controlled by friendly forces; and
The losing Battle Group has lost all its Victory Locations   » because
of the force morale differential.(the difference between force
morale of the winning and losing Battle Groups

If all these criteria are met, the losing Battle Group will randomly retreat by one of the available
exit Victory Locationsto an adjacent map. If not, it is forced to disband. Battle Groups that
retreat, can’t move on the following strategic turn.

17.7 DIsbanDIng
Battle Groupsare disbanded whenever the player chooses or whenever they are forced to
leave a map, and can’t retreat, either through loss of victory locations or from morale failure.
If a Battle Group that disbands is in supply when it disbands, all of its units are returned to its
reinforcement pool. If you have only one Battle Group remaining you may not willingly disband
it.

Does this answer your question?

Cheers,

Mark

Good catch buuface, you are right LSA and newer releases are the only ones to support 2 BG's on the same strat map area.

Having said that it works the same way in TLD as in LSA for BG's to retreat. LSA just has a few more options because of the possibility of 2 BG's on a map or 2 VL's between maps.

In Meuse mod for TLD the feature is turned on and I've seen it work....

For WAR Force Moral must be on in order for the BG to retreat to another map.

I have not ever seen it otherwise.
