Traditionally, in this mod the difficulty level is one.
Reasons:
- Historicity (no King Tiger here);
- Focused strictly on H2H game.
Nevertheless, TLD has features depending on the difficulty level. Quote from the manual:
"Battle Groups that have been disbanded while out of supply will lose units from their Forcepool,
as well as active units. The chance of losing a unit in the Forcepool depends on the difficulty
level:
Recruit.................0%
green....................5%
line......................10%
Veteran.................15%
elite......................20%
If you intentionally disband your Battle Group, the chance of losing a forcepool unit is 5% less
than above."
Suggest nevertheless be used as a standard in the game difficulty level "recruit" (0% loss in forcepoll). Reasons:
1) In some cases, forcepull reduce even if BG is on supply (example - attack on map and force disband). This really bug.
2) On Elite you can easily lose more than 60 units after the fight. Although in battle fighting for every soldier.
3) These losses are not included in the figures.
4) Surroundings of the BG in any case will have consequences: no fuel/ammo and demaged vehicles easy decommissioned. (Unlike CC5 where in surrounded BG save all demaged equipment).
5) Instead of simply crush the enemy, effectively leave him an interior VL. And to finish off on the next turn. (no button "Flee" as in CC3).

Regarding an opponent who intentionally left an interior VL unconquered so as to be able to destroy the surrounded BG next turn.
Thats is pure an utter a gamey tactic........such tactics run against good sportsmanship IMHO. There are obvious limitations with the game in trying to represent a campaign battle. Using those limitations to cripple an opponent is just crap.
Now, you may think its a valid tactic, knock yourself out, its a free world. But you would not be my opponent if you thought in such a manner.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited
and found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some
