Meanwhile during last 2 weeks the goverment forces lost 4 divisions (with many Abrams's, M113 and other humm-vees) disbanded and most of the territory north of Bagdad to ISIS (Islamic state of Iraq and Sham - ultra-radical sunis that fight with goverment forces in both Syria (part of FSA supprted by the US and EU) and Iraq). Now ISIS forces are moving toward Bagdad. Iran is considering sending troops to help Iraqi goverment stopping them.

ISIS (Islamic state of Iraq and Sham

Islamic State of Iraq. Ok. What's Sham?
Added:  Islamic State in Iraq and Syria got it

Very interesting developments in Iraq. Seems like the worst case scenario.
I wonder what will happen?

The Middle East....

Warfare has raged in this neck of the woods since civilisation began..

Is it any wonder that their countries have not prospered... even with their oil fields

Why donkeys & Camels are still used.... Their country dry & arid decimated by overgrazing & firewood collection..

Liberated in 2 world wars with the blood of allied soldiers....

For what....     read this space in another 100 years or 1000....

It aint gonna change unless they are all dead.....

It's crazy:

2nd Infantry Division was destroyed.
3rd Federal police motorized division was destroyed.
4th Infantry Division was destroyed.
12th Infantry Division surrendered to Kurds.
5th Mechanized Division is under heavy pressure and most likely will follow the rest....

ISIS has already captured Mosul, Tikrit, Falluja.

$15 Billion in weapons/support and now much of it is captured or destroyed?  If Saddam stayed in power, things would have been much more stable.

Yes the media has been keeping this quiet, with very little coverage.  The media keeps trying to indoctrinate us and dumb-down the news with misinformation.  Which side are the "terrorists"?  Damn good thing stupid McCain didn't get his way because those gangster ISIS forces would have captured proposed U.S.-supplied weapons in Syria.  Then use those in Iraq.

There is only one solution.  Stop being slaves to oil and transition to alternative fuel sources...then the Mid-East will go bankrupt. And stop meddling in Mid-East governments...we fuked up in Iran and now Iraq. Weird...now we're on the side of Iran - I thought  they  are the terrorists??  What a cluster fuk.  Once Maliki cut-out the Sunni's from power it was over.  America tried to broker fair representation but we were delusional to think that would last.  Our government never understands we can not force our way upon other cultures that don't even want freedom or democracy.

How ironic that probably our "allies" in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are financing ISIS or even being recruited to fight on their ranks.

Heres a link to the photos of the mass execution of Iraqi soldiers..

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=641_1402789384

Iraqi government now shutting down access to social media sites presumably in an attempt to stop the dissemination of the photos of the mass execution, and past/future acts. This is probably the only time I somewhat agree with censorship, it will help stop the spread of panic.

I bet most of those ISIS gangsters are foreign nationals.  So much for Geneva convention rules for POW's.  Unbelievable - what a bunch of mother f'rs to do that.

What a wonderful society living under an Islamic State the people of Syria and Iraq have to look forward to.  Islam is a religion of peace...when they do this to their own people?  Rolling Eyes

in Iraq alot of ex-Saddam-army officers (that were bribed in 2003 to stop fighting) are a part of ISIS now and that's why they act so professional against the current Iraqi army...

I cant watch the video. But I did read the article.
http://www.stuff.co.nz/world/middle-east/10166822/US-sending-275-soldiers-to-besieged-Iraq
looks like there will be boots on the ground + Special forces.
Cant really blame him considering what's at stake. If the rebels took over Iraq it would further worsen the perception of the war being a massive failure. And a waste of money and life.

Human civilisation has been there since it begun. Civilisation = Warfare.

That's very interesting. First off, a lot of there country's have NOT been officially one country, for much longer than the last century. Unlike a lot of middle eastern places. Some parts are doing better than others.. In Iraq's case. Formed early last century. (I think?) Its obvious.

I have always theorized that the world was a more fertile place in northern Africa and middle east.
In the past. But not any more.
But I cant quote the science. Hence they were the cradles of human civilisation.
I know for a fact that the deserts of china were once greener. And even Caucasians from the west migrated into Xinjiang.

Bungarra wrote (View Post):

I must say my friend. In my view. If you look at the history, its very arguable to suggest that they were at all liberated during the second world war. There was a war between Iraq and the UK. In fact I think it was a surprise attack..
There will always be a pro British part off me. Despite all of the good things I can say about great Briton. Its not going to far to say that Briton has been the most harmful and damaging force in the human races history. My bro said the maker of the fantastic children's magazine "Horrible history's" says this.. " But I haven't researched him to verify that.

Well, with all the oil there, shits really going to hit the fan in 50-500 years.
Who knows, with all there Camels and donkeys they might be better off  Wink
Iraqis cut my hair. And work at the dairy I go to. Despite the fact one of them drives a car with a loud exhaust. And the other 2 listen to hip hop like its okay, I find them to be lovely people  Very Happy

How do you mean?  I noticed sarcasm by Dima directed towards Obama or US.  If Dima's point is that America does not have a leg to stand on to tell Russia not to invade Ukraine, because America invaded Iraq...that may be true.  However unlike Russia, America already withdrew forces from Iraq and we only have a small defensive force left guarding the Embassy.  What good news for Obama...that must be the malicious slant.

First Russian Su-24 bombers and Su-25 attack jets have arrived to Iraq to help fighting ISIS.

Thank you Mr.Obama for getting Russia back to arms-trade business in Iraq and now with no sanctions!

Gosh Dima, did YOU even listen to the video. He said they wanted to use the Russian bombers on Jerusalem, NOT ISIS. He also said it would take a long time to make the aircraft operational.  Confused

And who needs bombs you drop from aircraft anyway.  Question   Arrow

Only because nobody else wants those jets Dima and since the likelihood of base getting overran or switching sides is so high...rather have those gangsters steal Rus planes than ours.

Iraqis have bought these used Su-25 (from active service in the RF and RB) for USD 100mlns each Smile.
