This year Finland will be 100 years old, the centennial celebrations will be pretty big. As a part of them, there will be a new version filmed of the famous war novel "The Unknown Soldier" by Väinö Linna. There has already been two previous versions of the book filmed, I prefer the first version from 1955 I think. Second version was filmed in 1985. They always show one version, usually the first one, on Finnish independence day 6th of December.
The story of the book and the movies is about a Finnish rifle company in the Continuation War. There was a 'uncensored' version of the book released some time ago with 'traitorous' lines left in that were said by some of the characters. Remains to be seen if this new movie will keep those in.

The Last Kingdom - Based on the Historical fiction novels of Bernard Cornwell's. This is a TV series with very high IMDB rating 8.7/10. Set in 9th Century England during the Anglo Saxon period where conflict against the Danes and themselves was common place.

Oh yea, sorry for the typo, I meant late 2017. Finnish independence day is December 6th so around that time I guess.
I have to say though, some of the actors seen in that teaser trailer are well known from being tv-actors in pretty silly game shows etc. That doesn't help in making the new version any more believable. |

I watched Hacksaw ridge last night. 2 out of 5 stars. It was based on a true story which is amazing, but the details are so over dramatised I was calling BS on many of the scenes.
The US troops in this movie were issued with those amazing 200 round "Never Reload" ammo clips. In fact I dont think I saw a single reload on either side.
The main character turns into the Super Soldat at the end of the movie and _SPOILER ALERT_ air kicks a grenade back at the enemy Maradonna style which then explodes and injures him lightly!!! I called BS!
And the religious overtones irritate me. Mel Gibson is a well known Biblical Christian and I understand he wants to make movies that reflect this, BUT when it goes beyond faith into mysticism it loses me.
Battle scenes 3 out of 5, but they are very action packed Hollywood.
