Anyone know a mod to allow for the merging of Platoons in PitF? I’ve got plenty of tanks but in different platoons so an entire platoon can be just one PzrV.

Thank you.

It would be realistic to allow the Germans to do so given their knack for creating ad hoc kampfgruppe from shattered formations. You can mod CC's data and graphics files and recent editions have purposely exposed more editable data in the StratMap, Campaign and GUI text files. But you cant mod the games exe to add/remove functionality. At best a Unit Structure mod could change armored BG vehicles from 1&2 platoon units to support units which can be added to the active roster individually. However, this would limit those BGs to 7 vehicles max.

What could be done is to create a tool to merge platoons within the save game file, which is basically where the merge BG function takes place. In this case you'd need to back out of the op/camp, use the platoon merge tool, then restart the saved game. There is an amazing amount of customization available in the save files as evidenced by the old CC4/5 Req Tool. Everything from user awarded medals to changing soldier weapons and attributes to custom map deployments.

Example of 2 US Armored Coys restructured as single 10 tank platoons (remaining 5 tanks in Coys allocated to support where they would be available as individual selections. Again, a full strength 10 tank "platoon" would fill the available slots in an active roster platoon with any unfilled tanks being available in the next battle. These would autofill active platoon slots made available thru losses.

 Description:
The background image can be redrawn to eliminate the overflow appearance of 10 units in a roster space for 7 units. Note also the formation names have been changed to Medium Tank 'Company' rather than Platoon.

UnitFormations.txt was modified to have 10 Shermans per "platoon". FPools.txt was edited to title these expanded platoons as companies. ScrnGdg.gdg could have been unpacked to redraw the force selection screen to accommodate the ten Sherman icons rather than the standard maximum of seven.

However, if either "company" were selected, only the left-most 7 Shermans would be used in the active roster. The 3 Shermans on the right autofill (merge) into the active roster as the original 7 tanks incur casualties.
