Came across this piece about the bloody battle of Okinawa and child soldiers.

Well written by Archaeology Bulgaria on the 75th anniversary of the Battle.

The battle raged between the months of April, May, and June 1945.

Some very interesting information, pics and diagrams of the tunnel system on Mt Suribachi and other landings on the island group.

"And the Battle of Okinawa was larger than the Normandy Invasion in a sense as the Allied naval force brought together for the Okinawa landing was even larger than the one at the coast of Northern France – even if the invasion force was somewhat smaller. In fact, it was the largest naval force to have ever been assembled for battle."

Well that's interesting.

Thanks for the article Bungarra.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
