Nearing the afternoon of Day 4.

I Fought RedScorpion in Montebourg and Les Pieux today.

Wruff vs RedScorpion

Montebourg -

Red picked his spot and brought the house.
Anticipating this I placed my units so that they could react to the point of engagement.
It was down the west side. Priest force fired on all building's in german hands from the opening bell. My truppen weathered the worst of it and prepared to engage the approaching merc rifle teams and impending allied armor up the dirt road in the west.

My Stug was immobilized out of LOS by a Priest force firing on the building in front of it, turning the Stug into a very effective road block. Rolling Eyes

Things got furious as merc teams and a column of tanks brought everything they had against a concentrated area in the west.
Pzt truppen fought hard. Holding the line, falling back to positions while reserves moved in to engage and counter.
My grenadier team on our left flank fought like giants, killing 2 teams and a Stuart (and I didn't even know that team had a faust, and at good range.). Wink

...then taking out an overconfident merc team breaking accross the street.
Shuffling units to counter Red's every move. So many grenades were thrown between enemy teams. MG's and surviving team members not wavering in the face of a furious merc assault.

Result:

Southwestern merc deploy squares undeployable in next round since they're not touching their primary deploy.

-------------------

Back to Les Pieux vs RedScorp to fight the afternoon of the 4th day:

Things began great for the Pzt forces. My infantry gun wasting 2 allied teams in the center of town and Reds M9 destroyed. Other merc teams were getting chewed up by Pzt gren, Inf Gun, and MG fire.
Then undaunted Red set up for his assault into the southeast.
A pile of bodies lay in the aftermath.

Mercs breaking accross the street are mowed down by automatic weapons fire. Merc M10 is hammered by Pzt Zug team and Stug armor and abandoned by the merc crew.

Two merc teams occupying the gained house come under fire from Stug and small arms.

The allied threat had largely been repelled. I launch a counter assault to gain back the house but a massive allied airstrike was quite devestating to our couterattack. Immobilizing my Stug and tearing up Pzt teams moving in to attack.
Both sides took position and held their lines at that point.

An allied AT team did eventually sneak into position and destroyed the Pzt Stug with a single shot to the front armor of the german gun (bastards. I saw them comming too then lost their position. BOOM!)

Fight on towards VICTORY!

assorted pictures of my battles vs Pzt in the war, pictures are mainly from first 3 days of operation

Red vs Lambi (an old classic) in Monteburg

2 infantry teams are spotted by US infantry, who brings the support of a Sherman and starts pursuing!

Nades and mortars and the germans are panicked.

Both Shermans immobilised on hedges and my assault is stalled, but still i manage to carve my way inbetween furious mgs and mortaring.

Red vs Mac in Les Pieux

my concealed 57mm works good killing german infantry, but soon a Pak43 is spotted and destroyed.

the carnage knows NO boundaries!

Red vs Wruff in Les Pieux

hard situation here.
i deploy M9 halftrack near church as decoy, as anitcipated the pak40 takes it out and i can launch my deadly barrage on their last pak destroying it!
infantry attack on east flank is coming

leaving no prisoners, killing their IG as well, that had tortured the souls of my forces early in the game!

Red vs Wruff in Monteburg

unleashing the hammers of doom (2 priests) on the defenders of Monteburg city and my infantry gets up close with the close support of Stuart and Sherman
its hard but far from impossible

Stuart finishes StuG from rear. the assault gun had been immobilised by the hammers of doom firing at houses close to it! some luck finally!

the US riflemen meet stiff resistance in the buildings, but still proceed despite german heroes doing everything possible!

more will come...

Some Pzt reports from the past couple of days.

Day 5 of 11

Wruff vs Sickf in Briquebec:

Mercs brought 3 teams with explosives against our one in the train station.
A couple of allied soldiers survived to secure the vl.
I countered later in the north for their supply VL but his ATG and a couple other teams held the line there and killed my attack force. Heavy casualties up there both ways.

My secondary attack from the south and west side of town.
Bloody allied mortar barrage was killer. I barely breached the city walls and could only hold one building on the east side of the city block.

--------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday in Les Pieux:

Mac vs Lord4War

--------

Then they battled in Briquebec where Mac took advantage of a foothold gained in the previous battle on the east side of the city block.
Mac vs Lord4War

End of day 5

Wruff vs Mooxe

Montebourg:

Mooxe went with the less likely approach through the east. The back door path to Azeville VL.
God bless our PzJaeger team. They were patient until the last second.

Mercs were knockin on the door but couldn't open it.
I countered in the west and cleared accross the street.

------------------------------------------

DAY 6

Verboten battled Tack in Montebourg

Verboten report:

"The fighting was intense, German teams assualting supported by supressing fire, smoke everywhere, grenades flying. Allied sqauds breaking and dying. Tack pulled out a Stuart in an attempt to hold the centre. I killed it but Allied infantry reinforcements killed my troops in the buildings. I put an MG to work killing them and the assault in the centre ground to a halt. In the north I was grabbing up ground by the acre, Tack tried rushing in reinforcements but I was cutting them down, the German troops (even the low quality ones) were excelling.

By now Tack was worried about his supply and tried to rush reinforcements the the Valogne VL. They had to get past this magnificent gun first, all failed.
I watched in horror as "88" was beseiged by three infantry squads, a zook, a Sherman and the Preist monster. The 88 dealt with all of them, and in the end where surrounded by the dead and dying enemy.

it should be noted that the crew of "88" scored the following kills and suffered ZERO CASULATIES during the battle. It cost the allies dearly in their attempt to knock out this excellent gun and it's crew."

END REPORT

WAR IS OVER!

Merc victory. Great op. Really fun. Came down to the last round when the mercs finally turned it in their favor in the 2nd battle of the final round.
Thanks everyone for the GG's. We had a blast. Smile
Congratulation to everyone on the merc team.
Thanks also to my Pzt teammates. Everyone fought like giants on both sides.

Most notable events in game...

1. ANZAC_Tack losing supply VL in Monteburg. It turned out to be a good and bad thing at the same time.

2. Holding road to Azeville in Monteburg so our BG can run for it.

ye verboten made a big play at that road, and in last minutes i was transferring troops to there to reinforce my guys who were being overwhelmed.
vl must have changed hands 5 to 6 times in last minute of game.
with 81mm mortar and at team scrambling as my last troops.

at game end i swear it was a contested vl,but was a lot of smoke there from verbs attempt to use smoke from his mortars to get a lucky shot on my reinforcing inf.

but in the results screen i was relieved to see the pc awarded it to me.
