PostPosted: Wed Oct 13, 2004 4:57 am Post subject: SAS - Operation Numbnuts. Wruff vs Mac Reply with quote

Maybe the sickest op ever. The killing just never stops. Every battle is
vicious struggle on both sides from the first minute. Broken and battered
platoons fighting to the very last every round.
Very often after battles I've found myself doubled over in my chair with the
strangest painful sensation, like I've just been kicked in the nuts.

Operation Numbnuts:

We're finishing up the second day of this 5 day operation. Mac attacking
into St Vaast
has been frustrated by the performance of his armor.
Losing another tank every time it pokes its nose out. So he takes his
frustrations out on Wruffs' AT gun, calling in an airstrike and scoring a direct
hit on the Gun: (notice the PzIII smoldering just north, teehehehehe ;D )

Wruff taking back what's his. After hitting the target for 10 mins with a
Howitzer my SAS assault squad charges in to secure the VL... and they were
all killed. The allied assault failed: :'(

Here's where St Vaast stands after 2 days. Mac has 1 tank left and has lost
many many good soldiers fighting his way out of the box:

Then there's the bloody horror that is Montebourg.
Macs Panther BG rolling through from the start and dominating the map.
Wruff pushed back, not being able to hold a line in the face of superior
armor, MG42's and grenadiers.
German BG in Monte

Allied BG in Monte

My Stuarts and Greyhounds no match for the big german cats.
Though an allied zook and rifle squad charging in with a hail of grenades lend
a hand, taking care of this Panther.
One down... 5 to go:

In the south my allied command squad waits behind enemy lines and charges
this Panther. Within seconds they shit their pants and the entire squad was
broken after a short attack and left sitting in puddles of piss while the
Panther backed up and proceeded to kill them all.
The big cat then lost its skin when it proceeded east in front of an allied 3
inch AT gun.
2 down, 4 to go. Razz

Unfortunatly another Panther broke through the north and wouldn't die. My
zook got 5 direct hits but only immobilized the fat german tank. My defense
was breaking down and mac got in behind enemy lines. The results after 2
days aren't very pretty at all.
More desperate measures are soon to follow.

The third battlefield in this op is Azeville.
Wruff attacking from the north and having a hell of a time gaining any
ground whatsoever.
After losing my right flank the previous round and barely holding on I knew
Mac would be close this round, but not this close. He deploys his %#!!%
bunker right up in my face. (Damn these SAS Marders' are friggin TOUGH
too).
We're chewin eachother up real good in Azeville, though if I don't get
somewhere fast while I still have some armor support then the walls are
going to cave in on me.

Here, the survivors of an allied command squad assault macs stupid bunker
(nemesis has a *!!@#! bunker in the SAS op I'm fighting with him too. I
hate these things and they all must be destroyed!).
I couldn't crack the damn thing.

And again.... the ugly result after 2 days.

My maps are spread out before me and I've called in the allied command
staff. We need a plan, and we need it NOW!

This fight is a real kick in the pants.
Lookin forward to the next round Mac. Wink

Wruff

I'd have been real pissed if I was assigned to crew a greyhound 37mm in 1944. Actually I'd probably cry first then be pissed.
Are they good for anything but driving as FAST as possible down a road and drawing fire?

Red. Do you accept PayPal payment? Embarassed

jagd. They certainly aren't any good holding back a throng of Panthers, that's for certain. I'm in real trouble. Damn panthers are a tough kill.
Maybe mac will accept a challenge to decide this thing with a drag race through Montebourg. My greyhound vs his Panther down Montebourg main street. Smile

LOL. Well now that I OWN Montebourg Very Happy you all can come and enjoy drinks at Jock's Farm.

St Vaas and Azville are another story. I managed to hold on for another day there, but the overwhelming US numbers and giving me real trouble.

The Germans have now broken through in Montebourg... But the Allies are poised to assault in St. Vaas.

It's still anyones game...

Another round of madness with Mac last night as we continued on our roads
to destruction.
All in all, I was booted out of Monte, finally broke out in Azeville and
contained Mac in St Vaast.

Wruffs' last stand in Monte before Macs SS troops and Panthers
overwhelmed Wruffs' recon BG and forced his retreat into Quineville.

Then Mac continued his pursuit and attacked into Quineville.

His attack was held and though he gained a bit of breathing room in
Quineville, he lost another Panther to my 3 inch guns. He has 2 left,
hopefully only one left if he lost the one I immobilized, hitting it with naval
barrage and many zook rounds.

I finally broke out of my box in Azeville launching a spearhead assault up the
center of the map. Killing one of macs few tanks (he has one left) and many
of his soldiers.

St Vaast looks much the same as in the first day. Mac assaulting forward and
Wruff cutting down his men and then counter attacking taking back the line.

Could the tide of war be turning in Wruffs favor? or is the damage done and
it's too late for his army to recover an entire map. We're 3 days into this 5
day operation. Time for major allied offensive operations.

Another round of great battles Mac. See you soon for the next. Smile

Hi Brian.
Welll, as I said before, Very often after battles I've found myself doubled
over in my chair with the strangest painful sensation, like I've just been
kicked in the nuts. And after getting kicked in the nuts 30 or 40 times then
they finally just go numb. At this point it appears the op is named after me,
though mac will have numbnuts in the final two days as my army is
poised for a major offensive and will be kicking back very hard. Twisted Evil

St Vaast, Day 3.

Mac make a push in the west supported by his last PzIII.
Wruff retreats a couple of hedges and waits for mac to fall
into his trap. The PzIII is baited around to the second
hedge and falls into Wruffs' zook trap.

Wruff pushed up the center making repeated assaults on
the single story building in the middle.
German air support takes care of Wruffs' Howitzer.
A single german grenadier team located in the small building
wipes out the allied attack.
The bodies pile up, then Mac counter assaults and makes good
gains down the middle.

The madness continues. Desperate measures are in order for the last 2 days.

Then in Quinville Mac pushes into the south and creeps
accross the north. He kept his last precious Panther out of
sight and clear of my 3 inch guns this round.

Back in Azeville Wruff pushes hard in a concentrated
effort, taking advantage of his scattered gains behind
enemy lines in the previous round to concentrate his
forces to open up the southeast.

2 days to go. I got a long way to go to get the gains I
need to turn this thing around. St Vaast will be a good place to start. Twisted Evil
See you soon for the next round Mac. Smile

Did you guys make this op? With the german airstrikes I have to suppose so. So who made it - where to get it - and what time limit/settings are you playing with?

Hi jagd.
I made this op.
We're playing 15 min battles, morale off (of course), 'Green' setting,
"Never act on initiative" is activated.
I believe the only limit we set was a 4 Panther limit for that one BG of macs,
though he's only had one left for a couple rounds now so I can't remember exactly.
He is keeping it hidden, knowing that I've got a wall of 3 inch guns waiting for
it in Quinnville. Smile

Send me an email requesting it and I'll reply by sending you the file for this op.

------------------------------

Day 4.
St Vaast

Wruff attacks with heavy assault from the east, breaking
Macs flank and getting behind german lines. Taking out an
AT gun and several german squads, then moving forward
to secure the allied supply route.

...Securing the german supply route, but then losing it again and again
to a single german soldier hiding under the PzIII wreck and Schweres MG42
supporting from the Hotel. I went in with 2 squads, resecuring the german
supply line and wiping out 90 percent of the german platoon, but never
getting a bead on that damn soldier. In the end of the
battle Mac held onto his supply with that single soldier, but he lost ground
and now finds himself surrounded in St Vaast.

Back into Quinnville.
Mac assaults the south. Moving on the Cathedral with infantry supported by
his last Panther. I call in an artillary barrage to slow his infantry assault, then his
Panther gets up close and personal... Both my squads holding the Cathedral
rain a barrage of grenades down on the big cat until it's finally abandoned.

Mac is left with infantry and a couple of AT guns in Quinnville while I still have several
tanks. Hopefully enough to kick him off the map and get back into
Montebourg with 3 battles remaining.
I must if there is any hope for an allied victory.

3 battles to go.
Last night Mac and I again pitted our forces against one
another.
Remember in the first round Wruffs' light armor BG was booted out of Monte
and into Quinville by Macs SS Panther BG. Though I now have
gained major victories on all 3 active maps and hold the vast
majority of Quinville, it may be too late for the allies to
recover from that early blow.
The past 2 days I've pushed extremely hard at mac on all
fronts. I've widdled Macs BG's down a great deal. In St Vaast
Mac has been reduced to holding only his 1 point supply VL. In
Azeville he's holding on to 2 vl's by the skin of his
teeth. Quinville stands as a major allied victory as well,
though being kicked out of Monte into Quinville so early on may proove to
be too much to recover for the allies.

St Vaast. Wruff aggressivly assaults and pushes Mac back
to his supply VL. Many dead germans.
Decisive allied victory at St Vaast.

I'll keep it to one result per post so the thread doesn't time-out when loading.

Quinville: I thought Mac was out of Panthers and then he
brought another command Panther to the fight. I was caught
off guard and didn't bring much heavy AT capability that fight.
Germans took the Cathedral and central VL on the bridge.
The next fight I came better prepared. I took back the
south and resecured the bridge VL. Macs last Panther
survived the round though and though I have momentem on my
side, with only one round left in this op I've got to kick
Mac off of at least one map I think to win this thing.

Azeville:
After losing my supply in N. Azeville a couple rounds ago due to losing
the south of Quinnville, I fight hard and make it to the
other side of the map to secure another supply route. Mac
is pushed back and holds only the bunker and his 1 point
supply VL in Azeville heading into the last round.
Here, Wruff gets behind enemy lines and clears the rear
with his infantry while his sherman runs the gauntlet to
meet up with his infantry and secure another supply route:

Friggin brutal fight Mac. It's been a really great op.
Looking forward to fighting the last round tonight. Cool

I think that name will go to whomever looses this thing Wink

Will Wruff be able to push Mac off at least one map? Will Mac's push into Quineville secure enough VL's to throw the balance of the War to his favor? Will the unending numbers of the Allied forces overrun Mac's "Alamo" in St. Vaast?

Stay tuned... Shocked

Well, looks like I'm the numbnuts. Embarassed
Though I plowed to major victories in St. Vaast and Gavrus, there was no
recovering my getting kicked out of Monte by Macs' SS Panther BG early in
the op. Hindsight, I should have attacked right back into Monte again and
again. This op came down to just a couple of points and it would have
secured an alllied victory. As it turned out I allowed mac to attack into
Quinnville and there was no booting him back out of there.

Great op Mac. It was a real pleasure fighting your army these past couple of
weeks. There were high's and low's. We laughed and we cried, and
afterwards we hugged. Laughing
An awesome op that came down to just a couple of points to decide it.
A great challenge every bit of the way. I had a great time.
It will be my honor presenting to you the Sniper Badge and Close Combat
Bar during the next Pzt Honors Ceremony.
Well done mein Bruder.

Pzt Wruff

Final result of Operation Numbnuts:

We've already started a new op that is turning out to be even crazier than
this one was.
A couple of fanatics. Smile

Thanks, Wruff.

It was an awesome fight, one which was decided by shrude tactics and a time line that ended on just the right day (for me at least). I don't know what would have happened if the Op would have gone on another day Confused

And now we are already into another SAS Op! I guess we can't get enough punishment.

Let Operation: Bring the Pain begin!
