Hi to all,

As some of you are already aware, the third and last part of the Stalingrad trilogy is now under development. I have been happy to see that most of you like what I made with SDK. Stalingrad: Operation Circle (or SOC) will be the sequel of SDK.

"The sequel" does not mean that SOC will just look like SDK with some new maps. Of course, SOC will keep the same general look: the stratmap, uniticons, maps look will remain similar but SOC will come with quite alot of new graphics, new units, new weapons...and even new game concepts (I don't want at this point to divulgate too much, sorry!).

There will be something around 20 totally new maps (some pics are already available on the combat camera or on a previous post on the general forum: http://www.closecombatseries.net/CCS/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=3314), 12 to 15 common maps with SDK and around 10 modified SDK maps. Polemarchos has already offered help with the video and the historical background of the mod. Of course, anybody willing to join the SOC team is welcomed!

As for today, I'm just waiting for your comments and questions.

And I will regularly keep you informed about the development.

Cheers
PJ

nice to hear you finally decided to do it. I have a couple of questions,

Is this mod intended more for AI play or will you make it more balanced for H2H?

if the answer is more balanced.. is this going to mess with historical accuracy?

Thanks!

I'm working through SDK now and enjoying it. I find the A.I. (which I play almost exclusively.....i know, i know) very tough and fun to play for a change.

I look forward to more from you pzjager. By the way, did you change anything about medals for the Germans? I find I do not win as many and am having a hard time figuring out whats a IC 2nd, etc, etc.

Thanks again

Very good news! I know it's a lot of work, but with less maps and more experience I hope it doesnt take as long to complete.

Still, take your time and get it "perfect" :hurt10 Meanwhile it's back to Der Kessel

This is exciting news indeed.

I like SDK very very much.

I do hope however your open for some constructive critisisim?

I consider SDK to be one of the best mods I've played for CCV (#1 for me is Meuse then Bloddy Omaha/SDK)
Or is it SDK then B.O.?
I don't know very tuff. But I have always been amazed at the strategic map for B.O.
The best I have ever seen created by any mod.

But I hope you would be considering changing the grapics for the strategic map,It seems so bright to me and just doesnt seem to measure up to all the other fine graphics you have created.

It's just a thought and a probably bad opinion,

Hi,

1) I have always been open to any discussion and will continue to do it. But sorry Platoon Michaël, every mod "belongs" to its modder. Work on a mod during 2 years and you will see.
2) For the Stratmap, Sorry but due to the CC5 program itself, it is impossible to do a correct winter-like stratmap. If someone feels I am wrong, I am open to every proposition.

PJ,

Your SDK Maps are awesome...but in my opinion the stratmap is too simplistic.
I don't think the problem is with winter-like feel of the stratmap...I think that the stratmap is a bit bland...old school...old fashioned. But it's your mod...maybe you wanted SDK's stratmap to look different...more military looking compared to the 3D style stratmaps used on other mods?

I did not know that about the CCV program.

It was just a thought, besides i'm sure the thought of crating another one is probably like hitting your head against the wall.

Hi,

Just to be sure that I am well understood, there is something in the CC5 exe which makes roughly everything different than green (or more or less green) becoming pink on the stratmap. I don't want to be too technical, but the program (which has been made by the CC5 developers for a sumer-like game) erases everything but green in the RVB (in french) color pallet.
That's why, when russian hold a map in SDK, the map is green!!!!

I cannot do anything against that. And in addition, if I try to draw something on my stratmap, it becomes horrible on CC!!!

So guys, I understand your frustration, but I personaly can't do anything: it's in the game!

Anyway, I just hope this is as minor for you as it is for me.

Have fun with SDK. The rest of the game is not so bad, I believe.

And SOC will be even better.

Cheers

Don't worry about it, PJ...the stratmap works...it's just not as beautiful as your amazing maps. The important thing is SDK's awesome gameplay...and the really nasty AI for single player. I'm not done playing SDK...but I'm already looking forward to playing the sequel, my friend!

I wonder if it can be tricked?

A good understanding of color filters might just lead the way.

or maybe not.

PJ

Thanks for continuing this effort. I just finished the Der Kessel campaign and it was one of the best I played. Barely was able to hold on to both airfields until the very end. The AI was tenacious and clever, good job on this.

Not sure about the Grand Campaign yet. I will try that next.

Hi,

I would say; "Both".
For sure, it will be, if played with the Germans, the toughest CC mod never seen, for obvious reasons...

Unfortunately not as simple, Platoon Michael!
But if you have an idea to resolve this issue, you are really welcome!
