Hey where the Hell is everyone?

Things have been pretty quiet here as of late. Not too much activity outside of a few comments on SOC, TRSM or CCMT. Where is the silent majority who ducks in and out of here and through the single play ranks of each mod. There are supposedly over 21,000 members of this site. WHERE ARE YOU?!?

Come and join the Multiplayer Ranks of Close Combat! Its a whole new world that is far superior to playing the AI. Make a post here in CCS, there are plenty of people here who can direct you to the right answers. Check out the Technical Support thread in the forums for some guidance.

We need to keep this great game alive and kicking for years to come.

You will find a lot of multiplayers logged into GameSpy. Come and play, take some lumps, learn the multiplayer game and have some fun.

See you on the battlefield.

Hi Kevin,

Quiet? Yes and no.

Yes because some mistakes in the CC comunity have been made recently, leading to a part of the current situation.
No, because the moders, the only ones who can keep CC alive, are not sleeping. SquadLeader is currently working on a very nice mod regarding a battle which is not well known by anybody. The pics you can have from this mod are awesome. Koursk is still on the tracks. A french team is working on it. You can be sure that the mod will be released and will be a killer. SDK:DK is on the tracks. Bir Hakeimas well, these two ones from myself. Polemarchos and his team are working on a mod in the balkans which might be awesome..... etc... Please accept my apologies if I have forgotten (and I have!)a new mod coming.

Kevin, CC is still alive and has just been ill from being invaded by some people who wanted to do it commercial. Just be sure that I will continue from my side to do CC mods and I will don't care about the number of people who doxnload them. Why? Because I will do them as a passion. Not for money. Not for Glory. JUst for you.

Cheers
Frederic

I do agree that the mod makers greatly increase the interest and life expectancy of CC and I am also aware that there are a number of mods currently under development. Another one to add to your list would be Buck_Compton's Battle of Scheldt.

The point that I am trying to press is that we more often than not see the same old voices contributing to the posts here. There are some new voices that post from time to time but I would like to see A LOT more people get engaged with CC and come out and play multiplayer. If there are so many people interested in CC, where are they?

As always, I am indebted to you and the other mod makers, the webiste managers, and clans who have kept CC alive all these years and continue to make it a great game.

Thank you and Let's keep it going.

Hey Kevin, why don't you post some of your AARs from your MP games? I'm
sure it would get ton's of interest and maybe draw in a bunch of players. I
would love to hear some stories and see some screenies- even single games.
Newer players would likely be fascinated and you could even go over some
of the 'gentlemen's rules' for playing h2h.

Thanks for mentioning BoS45, PJ...we're moving on to the maps now (in between SoC battles Very Happy )

Drizzt was going to update 2nd Khakov...he's been quiet.

Also L4W's Operation Husky mod idea sounds promising.

The forum's been very quiet lately though...speak people! Smile

I haven't seen CSO so boring in years. The only interesting thread is Drill's open call for a programer and he doesnt respond.
Links are gone.
Site gets hacked all the time.
Downloads/Links dont work.

Maybe a flame war is needed?
Anyone in particular you want to see me start a fight with? Smile

The CC Community severely needs the CC6 release that hopefully will include a MASSIVE overhaul in graphics, gameplay, strategy.

mods are not enough anymore.

No!

That would just be a waste of time, a distraction from the game at hand. This community is too fractured as it is.

I think we squabble too much. You don't see the Steel Panthers crew posting-while-drunk, or making ungentlemanly comments.

You don’t see the Steel Panthers admins, moderators, shear leaders, so called “game developers”, and “want to be’s” post in every thread making the grass rot participators feel like spectators either. And even laugh at the posters expense or scare em, censuring em ..

Or, If Im wrong please tell me...

There are not any problems with interest in CC that can be rules out. There have never been so many visitors at CCS as it is now.

Jan 2007 compared to Jan 2008 there has been more then a doubling of visitors.
No doubt has the CSO debacle increased the amount of visitors here at CCS, but still... More than 100% increase in a year tells the story of grate interest in CC..

So, if there is little diversity in posters, that’s even more strange.

So most visitors are just lurking in the forums...or just downloading CC stuff without even going to the forums Wink

I wonder if the new releases have some small part to play?

What do you think?

There is a whole bunch of new , fresh, CC players out there looking for mods, tips and a helping hand.

Hey, they may even be looking for encouragement.

Sry, I expressed my self not clear

I clarify,
I talked about page views was up +100%, so that’s actually viewed, and hopefully read pages in the forum. So there is grate interest in the forum. Thus also in CC I guess.

So, if problem with few posters, that’s even more strange.

I believe that CC forums ought to have a wide grass rot participation, many people take care of the answer questions and helping out to there best of there ability.
I do believe that’s the whole idea with this grate site.
Sharing there ideas, thoughts, complains, joy of the CC series, losses and victorys.

Active Participation ads value to CC, if someone feels reduced to a spectator it removes the fun out of CC. Remove the fun, and one lose the visitors, (Im sure most of us believe that).

Thats my opinion and strong belive

"encouragement", and if they complain about CCMT, which they do, and I do understand why. (do you?)

But, that’s not the topic, I have established that there is an increase in visitors. Thus there’s not the problem.
So stay on topic please.

Someone feel that there’s to few posters (seem to be the topic), to little diversely. And amounts of page views suggest that to, maybe.

So what you plan here, do your best for CCS as you have done for CSO forum?

Please inform me

Sorry, I don't understand what you have written.

I'm just a poster at CSO forums, with the ability to delete spam.

I give technical support where I can.

I managed to get the CSO download section just about up to date after it was neglected for so long.

Then the site started it's technical troubles, which still continue.

I put together a site that supports community mods , maps etc for the latest releases http://closecombat.matrixgames.com/ as no one else, bar CSO, put in any effort to support the latest releases with server space.

I don't spend my time winging and whining about what should be done, I do something about it....

I intend to continue spending my spare time in this fashion.

If this isn't to your liking...tough, get over it and make a mod, play a game, or do the maccarana... I don't care.

That was an intresting answer, was that what we call a CV?

I made a simple statement: "So what you plan here, do your best for CCS as you have done for CSO forum?"

Why did I make that statement, Rolling Eyes how stupid of me, what was I thinking, no doubt you do exact the same for CCS as you have for CSO.
A simple "yes or no" whould have been enough.

Btw, is there any visitors left at CSO forum theas days?

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
