Hey, Mooxe...
I know the mIRC chatbox idea never took off...but it was a chat module that opened in another window...and not many people liked the idea.
But what about installing a ShoutBox/ChatBox?
If you add on the top of the Forums...people browsing the forums will read the messages/shouts...and maybe more people will post their own shouts...and eventually start regular chats on the ShoutBox.

A lot of forums are adding shoutbox modules these days.
Its possible. I am trying not to make the forums page to long right now. People tend to ignore the bottom I find. I could possibly place it on the left hand side.

Left side or Top will do.
To conserve space...maybe just display the last 5 shouts (5 lines).
But if it's on the left...you can prolly fit in more shoutlines.
