Well, prepare to spend a month doing tutorials from manual .
I have Battles in Italy and Battles in Normandy. They are certainly are much better strategic games than CCV, but they are a bit hard to start playing.
Yeah, the leanring curve is really high, but it's addictive.
I suspect that the learning curve would be much less steep if they would bother finishing the tutorials - i.e. providing actual lessons within game, not within the manual, which isn't even included in the game box.
I wonder what's the deal with hardcore strategy developers - do they want to make their games as least accessible to the public as it's possible or what?
I mean, imagine running CC bootcamp and then having to read everything from the e-book manual with alt+tabbed game .

Surely you just move a counter, next to another counter, and look at the odd, then roll your 'dice'?
Yes. And I think some bonuses like artillery, etc.
None of the "move counters and then fight battles in a FPS" modern crap.

The review from gamespot say's this..
One key to the ease of learning Korsun Pocket is an excellent and thorough eight-scenario tutorial. Unlike many tutorials that merely teach you which buttons do what, this mini-manual not only instructs you on how to use the interface, but also guides you through the basic tactical and strategic aspects of the game. Once you've completed the tutorial you will have learned most of what you need to know to effectively lead your virtual army, and you can then use the full PDF manual on disc as a reference when needed.
Are they being too enthusastic in their review you think?
These are minor grumbles, to be fair. I'm just looking forward to actually fighting decent AI, in a matrix computer game, no less!

Well, I think that "professional" game reviewers usually have pathetically low standards. They are game enthusiasts where they should be game critics.

I think that one day I'll try to go through all these tutorials. I think I have them printed somewhere...
Kursun pocket is really nice, I'd almost forgot that game!
-But I remember that I almost killed my printer while printing the pdf-manual (all 52 pages...)
Another game I have that I haven't reinstalled is Airborne Assault, it been years since I played it, don't remember the level of the AI. Anyone with an opion about that?

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited
and found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some
of the great Close Combat mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank
all the members of our volunteer staff that have helped over
the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
