I installed it and although it does open, the graphics look terrible and the it doesn't run very smoothly...
Any recos on what I could do?

Try right-clicking the .exe and see if legacy compatibility is on offer.

I am playing it on Vista with no compatibility and no problems so far.

The real Close Combat starts when you are out of ammo.
Have you hugged your AT Gun today?

You will need the cc starter . It is downloadable from the download section.

I've never had a problem running in CC2 on vista.

As verba said try out the CC Starter program, it might help.
