Either because it is our professional duty , more entertaining that sitting behind a desk 8 hours per day in a stuffy office , forced to do it as part of national service,
to get citizenship rights, or because of sheer poverty - no other way to eat or have a place to sleep. In America - because the benefits and pension are pretty decent and no jobs available right now any way except flipping burgers.

Partisan ideology aside...I really admire the old Third Reich anthem along with the USSR's. Both were musical masterpieces and very dramatic. Somewhat bitter irony that the despite the Russian victory in the Great Patriotic War the Soviet Union eventually themselves collapsed less than 50 years after the fall of Berlin.

Well we have mandatory military service for all healthy males. As for the motivation part I guess it's patriotism for some, the threat of court martial if they desert for others. Good thing no wars in the horizon.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited
and found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some
of the great Close Combat mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank
all the members of our volunteer staff that have helped over
the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
