In general, the AI's indirect fire always seems to be more effective than mine. Assuming the same type of weapon is being used, the AI will inflict more casualties with their mortars, artillery observers, and other indirect fire weapons. I have noticed this for quite some time, but only felt compelled to post about it now.
In the Stalingrad der Kessel mod, both sides have artillery observers (called Vorg. Beobachter for the Germans and Korektirovshik Ognya for the Soviets). Obviously, the shells these units call down are much more powerful than regular mortars. With each of these units I can usually kill at least five men per battle, often ten, and on a good day, twenty or more, especially as the frozen surfaces of rivers in SDK offer no cover and are veritable killing fields.
Then, when it was the AI's turn to have observers - see the attachment for what happened.
That single unit attained all of those kills in a single battle. My men who were killed were not running out in the open - all of them were indoors. Admittedly the buildings they were fighting in were roofless, but they were still entrenched, in cover, and in most cases, set to Ambush.
Yet the AI's single spotter unit managed, two or three times in that battle, to kill six men with one shell, almost wiping a squad out with one shot.
I have never killed that many enemies in a single battle, ever, using the exact same unit type seen in the screenshot. Even though I target running enemies, which the AI did not do in that particular battle. And even though I target enemies out in the open, which, again, the AI did not do. In that battle, the AI targeted men hiding in buildings, and still managed to get that many kills.

Okay, that would make sense. I wasn't aware that a single unit type could have separate weapons data values for the AI and for human players. If that is the case, that would certainly explain it. I have noticed this in other mods as well, not only SDK.
When I played SDK as the Soviets, my Korectirovshik Ognya units were definitely not that powerful, while the German AI spotters were. Now that I'm playing SDK as the Germans, it's the other way around.
