Player's News: Battle of Surabaya 1945 Demo Released!
Posted on Sun Aug 24, 2008 2:46 am by squadleader_id
Close Combat 5 Invasion Normandy

In the spirit of Indonesian Independence Day celebrations in August, we're releasing the demo version of CC5: Battle of Surabaya 1945 mod. The Battle of Surabaya 1945 demo is based on the CC5 demo. We experimented working on a version of the mod that could work based on the CC5 demo because a lot of Indonesians expressed interest in playing a (war)game based on Battle of Surabaya but the majority of these people are not CC fans and don't have CC5. Releasing a demo version based on the free CC5 demo will give these non-CC-players a chance to try out BoS45 and CC5.

The demo features three maps, six historical battles and three "what if" engagements. 16 Indonesian and British Battlegroups are playable in this demo, including TKR, TKRP, Militia, Indian, Gurkha and Para Battalions. The demo is packaged with its own Windows Installer Package and don't work with the Config Manager. Full installation instructions are included.

Some background on CC5: Battle of Surabaya 1945 mod.

This Close Combat V mod covers the Battle of Surabaya. Roughly 20,000 Indonesian troops of the newly formed People's Security Army and over 100,000 militias and irregular fighters defending the city of Surabaya against the 24,000 strong British 5th Indian Division and 6,000 men of 49th Brigade, 23rd Indian Division with tanks, naval, artillery and air support.

The mod is an exhaustive remake of stock CC5. You will see all new graphics, hear new sounds, and experience a very different atmosphere with this modification of Close Combat V. British Far East troops have been researched for historical accuracy, including British, Indian and Gurkha teams never before seen in the game. The Indonesian army and militia order of battle and teams are comprised of almost entirely new units for CC5, and some of the teams – especially militia units – are quite outlandish. You will see lot of weapons and equipment rarely seen in other CC5 mods, including exotic traditional weapons.

The inner city house to house fighting will be fierce, bloody and brutal! There will be tough battles fought on rural battlegrounds at the outskirts of Surabaya. We hope CC players will have a lot of fun playing a mod set in one of the forgotten exotic theaters at the tail end of WW2.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
