Close Combat Marines Pzt_Wruff and Pzt_Mac face off h2h on CCMarines, the Marines tactical decision-making simulator. Included is an overview of the game interface and an in-depth After Action Report with screenshots of the mission we fought today. -Wruff

CCMarines:
-Pzt_Mac vs Pzt_Wruff
-Quantico3 map

Wruff report:
For those not familiar with CCM yet, I wanted to first give a good look at some of the setup screens so you can get a feel for the game interface.
This is the mplayer setup screen. Notice up to 6 players can join in the fight.
C’est l’écran multi joueur. Remarquez que 6 joueurs peuvent rejoindre les combats.

The map: Notice you cannot see your opponents deploy area. Only your own.

The Force Pool and unit selection screen. You can toggle between the Infantry and Armor/Vehicles force pools and select units from both:

The Op Order screen:
L’écran d’opération

Deploy screen previous to the battle which includes a time limit for players to deploy their forces before the game begins. I deployed in the Southeast while Mac deployed further northwest in the main town. My objective is to overrun and secure this urban area:

Now on to the fighting. The battle opens with my M1 facing off with Macs heavy tank (also an M1. This is a custom battle made in the editor by Mac earlier today). My M1 came up short against his.

There were multiple Artillary Barrages and Airstrikes available in the battle. Planning on entering the town from the south and the west, I drop my first barrage in the south end of the main town setting off lots of fuel and explosives in the area resulting in much damage:

I simultaneously drop another Artillary Barrage in the North end of town where, as you can see, the OPFOR forces took heavy casualties:

Two US teams sneaking in for an assault through the south of town:

I call in my first Apache Airstrike to finish off the immobile enemy tank that faced off with my M1 earlier in the fight:

And advance my teams into the south end of town. Losing one squad to enemy mortars, but getting the other into position. US troops are also entering the area from the west:

My trooops secure a building on the west side. Taking fire from enemy troops located in the 2 story building, another Apache is called in to soften up the position:

Then OPFOR are spotted moving in to fire on US troops. Two men remain in the US squad, one with an M203 Grenader Launcher which gains LOS on the red nissan pickup truck. The truck opens fire on my men with its mounted MG, but doesn't last long when a grenade is sent down range:

Meanwhile US troops in the south of town forward position and open fire on an advancing OPFOR team. My men open fire, pop smoke and then charge in for close infantry assault.

CCMarines is a "Tactical Decision-making simulation". Using the CC5 engine and under the watchful eye of the US Marines. Some of the former CC5 Atomic team created, by US Government request, a modification of CC5 for limited training purposes of the US Marine Corps.
It has been released throughout the fleet through the Marine Corps Gazette, September issue. This issue is available to anyone who calls their offices and orders it.
Below I'll provide the information to contact the office and order a copy for yourself.

(info to order) :

CCMarines is in the September issue of the Marine Corps Gazette.
The last 10 years of back issues are available through the Gazette editorial office. You may request back issues by mail at Marine Corps Gazette, Box 1775, Quantico, VA 22134; by e-mail at gazette@mca-marines.org; or by telephone at 703-640-6161, ext. 344. There is a per issue charge for back copies with current and previous year available for $3.50 each. For older issues, add $.25 for each year; i.e., 2003—$3.75; 2002—$4.00; etc.
Out firking standing! Excellent AAR and the graphics are great!

The mortar fire seems to be just as deadly in CCM as in RtB. It makes you rethink movement and the use of smoke!

The multiple fire missions from offboard mortars, artillery and CAS are a real new thing to CC players that haven't had their head knocked with it in RtB and now with CCM.

Those casuaties! Wruff, you must have won with the last man standing! LOL!

Great AAR guys, keep 'em coming!

This is the game I want to play. I'm not interested in "First to Fight." Is there any chance this game will be made available to the public?

Can it be true that to buy this game only costs $3.50? The September issue of the Mariine Corps Gassette includes a CD of the game that runs on personal computers? If true, this would be the cheapest new computer game I've ever heard of.

I have a few more questions:
1) Does it work on the internet?
2) It said 6 players can play at one time. Does this mean 6 computers on LAN setup could be used by 6 players on one game? It would be great to have 6 players on the net all playing one game.
3) Does it come with any battle scenarios? Or do you have to build your own?

Thanks for letting us know about this.

Yes. The CCMarines disc is inside the Gazette. You pay for the Gazette and the CD is included. Cost is $3.50.
Yes. It runs on PC's. Has auto install.
Yes. Multiplayer is in full effect. We're having 2v2 and 3v3 battles now. The more of us that order CCM the better.
Yes. It has its own scenarios, though the editor is GREAT. I've created several 2v2 and 3v3 battles that top the standard scenarios by far. We're gonna have a ball with this one.
