Looking at photo colors i would have to say it would be North West Europe again ;) So that would be Netherlands, Belgium, or Germany. Not much hill's in my country wich where fought over that i know of... Besides Grebbeberg (wich defenitly doesnt look like this) Devil's Hill but that also doesn't look like this one...

I noticed that there is a parking spot on top of one of the hills with a open spot in it... wich looks like heathland. I also noticed that there is another parking spot on the right... looks like some panoramic site...

My first hunch was Hurtgenwald. but coudn't zero it down to one of the spots that i'm familiar with. Most likely this is somewhere in the Ardenne's or in the Rhineland... But there was a lot of fighting over there... Blockbuster, Varisity, Nordwind, etc etc

I have to keep on guessing. At least it is narrowed down a bit ;)

Cheers Buck

No hints yet, please! Still working on this.

The hill on the left has a modern day parkinglot and a foot path up to what may be ruins or just a lookout or viewpoint. The lower hill to the right has a turn out that may be a viewpoint. This suggests that the area to the north is flat for a considerable distance. (Not many viewpoints are made to look at other hills just on the other side of the valley.)

We aren't even sure this is a WW2 site... but i believe pre ww2 battle's weren't fough it this kind of terrain...

I was busy checking out Hill numbers as they where used in ww2 none found so far...

My feeling says this is eigther Germany, Belgium or North East France

Terrain Challenge #11 - First hint (Score: 1)

Hello to all,

one week is over - now it is time for a first hint:

I had choosen this place because I made (accidentally) a travel to the place at the lower border of this pict. I want to make a little travel by car, and I missed a road, the navigation system failed, narrow roads, no other cars anymore, no houses anymore, only trees, trees, trees, trees ... so much wood that the light disappeared. And the road was really narrow. Than I came to a little junction, and I saw a Danish tourist car travelling by, also lost in the area like me.

I made a look around and found myself on a battle field. On top of the hills. Graves all around. It was so surprisingly that I totally forgot to make any photographs. I took the next road to the West and found myself back in civilisation about half an hour.

Later I made a search on the internet and found some facts collected by others about this area. There are really impressive photos available.

And by the way: it is not WW2.

I think you will take 6 hours now to find out where this area of deep forests is located.

Good luck hunting
Mafi

Hi TaDam,

congratulations, you made (nearly perfectly):

it is the "Lingekopf" / "Collet du Linge" in Alsace.
In the lower part of the picture, the road junction is at the "Bärenstall", a German cemetary. The German defence lines in the upper part of the picture can be seen at these sites:

The French cemetary is a little bit more to the West on th enext hill.

Well done job, TaDam.
