Gameranger.com Primary Meeting Place for Close Combat

play your friends online Getting Started in Multiplayer

1. Download and install Gameranger. GameRanger runs on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Mac OS X.

2. Create a new free account. GameRanger will prompt you to create a new GameRanger account or use an existing one, and you will need to enter your valid e-mail address. You should use the address your friends are most likely to know.

3. Activate your account and log in. Within minutes you should receive a confirmation e-mail to activate your GameRanger account. If it's not in your inbox, try looking in your junk folder, and mark it as a trusted-sender, or "not spam." Adding the sender to your address book is also a good idea.

4. Invite your friends. Under the Community menu, there are various options to invite your friends to try GameRanger. You can also search to see if they already have GameRanger accounts.

5. Host or Join a game. To join an existing game, select a game room from the list and click Join Game. If the game room has a green dot next to it, then it is already playing. Some games do not allow you to join if they have already started. Alternatively, you can create a new game by clicking Host Game.

GameRanger Improvements Revive and Extend Multiplayer Life of PC Games

play your friends online Perth, Western Australia -- March 19, 2009 -- GameRanger, the PC multiplayer online gaming service, added improvements to give games a longer multiplayer life. Rather than waiting around for a multiplayer game, people are now immediately notified the moment anyone wants to play a game of theirs that interests them.

GameRanger's new notifications mean that people can be always ready for a game even while occupied with other PC activities by simply having the GameRanger icon in the system tray. This increases the pool of available players for all games at all times. Once people have decided they want to play, GameRanger handles the rest so they have no need to worry about the usual headaches of network issues or connection problems.

GameRanger: a better place to play Close Combat online
Posted by webmaster on Fri Nov 21, 2008 3:36 pm (comments? | Multiplayer | Score: 3.5)
play your friends online Hi all, just thought I'd let you know about a new multiplayer network I've created for playing the Close Combat series online called GameRanger. The actual list is:

  • Close Combat I
  • Close Combat I Demo
  • Close Combat II: A Bridge Too Far
  • Close Combat II: A Bridge Too Far Demo
  • Close Combat III: The Russian Front
  • Close Combat III: The Russian Front Demo
  • Close Combat IV: Battle of the Bulge
  • Close Combat IV: Battle of the Bulge Demo
  • Close Combat V: Invasion Normandy
  • Close Combat V: Invasion Normandy Demo
  • Close Combat: Cross of Iron
  • Close Combat: Modern Tactics

Basically, GameRanger makes it quick and easy to play your friends online.

It has full lobby support for over 500 different games and demos (including the Close Combat series, of course), without the hassles and headaches that usually happen with network connections (eg. routers & firewalls).

I'm really excited to be releasing it, and hope it helps boost the CCS community by allowing people to play that were unable to until now due to problems with opening ports, etc. The more barriers that can be removed, the more likely the community will stay strong, as new users won't be put off. You should find this far simpler than the other *****bersome methods you have been forced to use.

You can download it at www.GameRanger.com

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
