I generally agree with this comment; I, being a soldier, recognise the need for soldiers to be 'hardened' to killing... 'desensitised' is a rather general term, and doesnt particularly cover the depth of the concept of training soldiers to kill.

Bluntly speaking, yes, soldiers need to be desensitized to killing. A soldier who views the killing he may be required to do in the line of his duties as akin to how a civilian would view murder, would be incapable of performing the act when it became necessary.

Soldiers are taught to 'switch off' to the emotional links to killing; however with this ability to kill come a number of constraints; and the average soldier sees a very distinct difference between killing the enemy in combat, and a cold-blooded murder.

We have to.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
