I took two trips to Normandy. Used to live in Belgium so I seen many Bulge sites. Been to sites in Bosnia... There are actually small plaques on houses denoting battles with German paratroopers there. Seen the statue pedastal of the guy who shot Arch Duke Ferdinand... actual statue was shot away... of Gavrilo Principe....

When standing in the parking lot by the church in St. Mere Eglise I couldnt help but try and orientate myself on the CC5 map of it. In the end it looked nothing like it but was cool to be there.

Been to Omaha beach and Normandy.
If you go there after you watch Saving Private Ryan, you'd start crying.

I walked the Nijmegen march back in 2004. Military version of roughly 168km in 4 days. Starts out in Nijmegen across the famous bridge, and goes on around many other known places mainly known from CC2 and Market Garden in general. :) I must say I felt rather humbled when I marched across that bridge, which was also the first time I saw it for real, especially when thinking about the history of the city. Third day, we stopped at a military cemetery for a Canadian unit which name slips me right now, and stopped for a minute in silence. Most just boys of 18-20 years old, some of the officers 22-30. I have not, but my Dad was on a B-24 that flew over Normandy on D-Day on a mission to bomb bridges behind the lines that day and was close to the Ardennes as a POW on a forced march as a POW after he got shot down.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
