Control Beek and you control the eastern approach to Nijmegen.  If the Germans are able to break through to Nijmegen the whole operation could become bogged down in street fighting.  Keep the Germans out of Nijmegen and throw them back towards Wyler as soon as possible.
If we can break through to Nijmegen and keep a supply line open, we can force the Allies into heavy street fighting and halt their entire operation.  The terrain favors the defender, but you must strike quickly towards the bridge!
