Elst lies squarely astride the main approach to Arnhem.  It is also a strong defensive position and a difficult area for armored operations. Expect the Germans to dig in deep and fight to the last.  If the enemy defenses in Elst prove too strong you may be able to bypass it to the west through Valburg or from the east through Huissien.
Elst lies squarely astride the main approach to Arnhem.  An Allied force here is knocking on the door of Arnhem, and it is here we have our last  best chance to slam that door closed for good. The many orchards and the soft fields will limit most movement to the roads.  Use your tanks and anti-tank weapons to protect these routes and then deal with the enemy  infantry once they are deprived of their tank support.
