Commander, securing Veghel is the task of the 1st battalion of the 501st PIR. When XXX Corps links up with the 101st airborne they will pass through Veghel and head north to Uden. Maintaining this link will be of outmost importance if the corps is going to make it to Arnhem. Expect enemy counter-attacks from the flanks within a few days.
Commander, allied paratroopers are moving in to capture Veghel and it's bridge on the Zuid-Willems-Vaart canal. If we lost the town you will have to wait for reinforcements which should arrive in a few days.  If we can strike Veghel from both east and west simultaneously, we may be able to re-capture the town, cut the Allied corridor, and put an end to their plans.
