04/28/05 Update |
AA_Jimbo | Again finding it difficult to find time to make updates to the site. Managed to post all the newest maps to the map page. The total finished is now 27. Maps 28 through 35 are in progress. So things are moving along. Njnjr23 is working on a revision for the vehicle graphics. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter and it no longer looks like an oncoming train. :-) |

10/25/04 Update |
AA_Jimbo | Lots has happened since my last update. We have now progressed to the third version of the beta mod and testing is going well. Still not finished but a major step closer. We're finished with 13 maps so far and 14 and 15 are in progress. |

10/20/03 Update
|
AA_Jimbo | I've
finally made it back online after recovering from some fairly serious
computer problems that were precipitated by a failing storage drive.
No significant losses to mod files although some material I personally was
working on and was preparing to release was lost. Had nearly
completed both the Scrngadg and Gamegadg files as well as the Stratmap
files but all three were lost. Nothing that can't be easily
re-created as I still have the master art files on back-ups. Here's an update of the most recent developments (that I can remember - sorry for omissions):

7/24/03 Mod Direction
Re-evaluation |
AA_Jimbo |
The
Afrika mod team has assembled and has completed re-evaluation of the
mod direction to ensure the highest level of historical accuracy.
Here is an outline of the finalized mod direction: MOD NAME:
We will have to leave off the pursuit of retreating Italians at this size unless we want to extend the strat map 200 miles to the west to include Beda Fomm, Benghazi and El Aghelia and 50 miles to the North & South to include Derna and Mechili. Timelines and stuff I've read, suggest that the action that occurs after 22 Jan 1941 is nothing more than mop up of Operation Compass. Besides that, the action that occurs after 22 Jan 1941 occurs beyond the limits of the proposed strat map. This particular proposal won't include that extra area.

7/24/03 Future Projects |
AA_Jimbo |
The
Afrika Mod Team has tentatively planned to do the following mods after
completion of the '40-'41 mod.

7/17/03 Future Projects |
AA_Jimbo |
After a series of discussions with other team members it is becoming apparent that a series of projects will be required to faithfully and accurately portray the events of the African theater in CC. We have tentatively planned to do a series of mods to this end. The details of which will be illuminated later on or upon request. Anyone who would be interested in assisting in creating the current mod should visit the "contact" link at the bottom of each page. |

7/17/03 Introduction |
AA_Jimbo | Began research work on this mod on January 15, 2003 after doing a short bit of research to see if any other Afrika mods existed for CC5. None did so here I am seven months later. Spent most of that time doing research, learning how to mod and generally just absorbing as much as I could. Not much exists in the way of visual information so finding photos has been difficult. Visited many new & used book stores looking photos I needed. Since the "official" announcement of work in progress and the release of my first three maps I've been approached by a number of people interested in helping out. We're assembling a team to re-focus the mods direction and begin final work on it. The African theater covered nearly the entire northern part of Africa and took place over the course of almost four years from beginning of 1940 almost to the end of 1943. Fitting such a broad series of events into the scale of CC is a challenge to say the least. Others have created mods for earlier versions of the game with success. Much of their work is being utilized in this mod whether it be approach or graphics. |
