I'm just gonna call it quits on this and just join other people's games. There aren't enough english guides on the web for my problem and now the thing's telling me that the IP address is another system's.

The problem (as I see it) is that I'm one of three computers on the network and I'm one of two users on the computer. So when I goto cmd prompt I see:

C:\Documents and Settings\User\

instead of regular old C:\. I haven't figured out how to get to the regular old C:\, even though I'm the administrator user. (My IP turns out to be a ridiculously large number for the end digit).

Well, now I'm faced with a new problem. When I type "admin" and "password" like you say and hit "okay", it refreshes the login window w/o the password it also appears to be taking a lot of time loading a page. Is there another way to do this or perhaps a way I can determine the password and user name?

my problem, otherwise I'd certainly be signing up for Clash of Steel, is that I only seem to be able join games and when I do get through I lose the remote connection. I assume it has to do with my firewall, which causes my external ip to be different from my internal ip. I still can't figure out a way around it.[/i]

I'm tired of fighting the computer, despite jazzing it up by playing against harder combinations and new mods. I'm interested in playing headtohead against another player and was wondering what most people use to find players to play against.

I'm trying to save some space on my computer, and I notice that most of the mb used for close combat, especially the mods, comes from the maps required. So I was wondering, in the CC5 Ardennes Offenses VetBob, do you need to keep the original CC5 maps or can you clear them out, after all, you are inserting the old CC4 maps. Aren't those being used for the mod?

If anyone else has confronted and overcome this problem, let me know.

oh yah, I just downloaded that, haven't had a chance to install it yet. Is it more of a burden on the ears or less of one. (I noticed the GJS tanks tend to let lose with their machineguns far longer than Normandy)

hrm... Tricky naming... Perhaps it wasn't so much a superior mind approach as "not my brain." I needed someone who doesn't think as linearly as I do to fool it. (that's not to say your mind isn't superior slems)

But now that I have it modified, how do I create the second Normandy? And does the CC5 config manager only work on the "Close Combat Invasion Normandy" path?

I did that so many times. The missing "RUNames.txt" error was what I got after following all the steps perfectly. I finally decide to purge the system of BoB and did GJS instead. That's now working as well as the regular game.

Now its telling me that the System\Packages\BoBv10\RUNames.txt doesn't exist. I've covered every step I can think of, but this is the one that's totally got me stumped.

Right, I managed to Solve that problem, by copying some files. But now its telling me that those files don't exist, regardless of the fact that I can, in fact, see them.

I got this prompt from my CC5 Configuaration Manager when I attempted to modify Close Combat V from Invasion Normandy to Battle of Berlin:

Failed to copy C:\Program Files\SSI\Close Combat Invasion Normandy\Data\Battles\Acquevile to System\Original\Acqueville because C:\Program Files\SSI\Close Combat Invasion Normandy\Data\Battles\Acqueville does not exist

Now, this is entirely true. My battles folder is totally blank. Yet I've been playing Invasion Normandy on this machine for at least a year and have been able to play Acqueville. So what gives?

As I understand it, (my limited understanding of Military Organization is grazed from the book We Were Soldiers Once...and Young) each of the battles you play are fought among Companies of each regiment. That's why (generally) the highest ranked soldier on the field is a Captain or a Hauptmann (Hauptsturmfuhrer for SS units). Dunno if that helps you much.

PostForum: Close Combat 5: Invasion Normandy   Posted: Thu Jun 30, 2005 8:46 pm   Subject: Step-By-Step Talkthrough of Running 4 Seperate CC5s
So, ideally, I want to run four CC5s, Invasion Normandy, Battle of Berlin, Gold Juno Sword and 1946. I've played CC:IN for a while, have a lot of saved games and a vested interest in keeping it around. However, I don't have a copy of CC3 (which has all the tanks I desperately want to play with) and CC4 won't run on my computer, so all the great tanks are pretty much out of reach. So my idea is to take each mod and play them as three seperate applications. However, this goes far beyond my level of computer understanding. So far I'm in the process of downloading all the required components of Battle of Berlin and have not yet modified the exist CC5. I have saved an alternate copy of the SSI files so that, should the worst happen and everything is screwed, I can just overwrite and all we be saved.

So, I was wondering if some superior computer mind has already confronted such a problem and could tell me how to do such a thing. Can 4 Close Combats share the same computer? Is it possible, or will all the filename paths be so screwed up, nothing will work.

SO: Superior Computer Minds: Please, for the betterment of all! Give me a step by step walkthrough of how to do it!

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
