Merry Christmas everyone! I hope everyone out there has a good Christmas with friends and family. For those of you who are deployed, best wishes to you, call home on your Iridium on the 25th and come home safe in 2012!
Close Combat has been a bit low key over the past few months. There is certainly a back log of new submods and patches to add as well as some old files that have been rediscovered. Matrix Games has some obscure news to report on also.
Visits to the site are still steady. Mod downloads have been going steady as well. Part of my plan for CCS in 2012 is expanding the number of guides and continuing to restructure the downloads FTP area. Yes the FTP is still open for anyone wanting to mass download every single mod or to just download older versions that are not available on the website. This plan is my way of future proofing Close Combat mods. In the years to come, as numbers dwindle so will the knowledge of how to make these mods work. CCS will be providing a clean, secure and straight forward site to help anyone through the task installing and playing any mod. Lets face it, mods are not easy to install anymore.
The downloads section is now being restructured. Filenames are all being templated and certain mods are moving around categories. From the example below you can see how all files will be renamed. Some other examples are, "COI_CommonwealthSummer_v8.4_installer.zip", & "TLD_AlliedVetmod_v1.0_installer.zip". The FTP Section is also being restructured to mirror the website, login and view the CC5 folder to see how its being done. Modding Tools will be renamed to thier application name, or best description if there isnt one. All Mac files will retain their original names.
I'd like to express my sincerest gratitude to the entire community who have contributed to the bills this year. You have donated and raised $1085 USD, thank you!. This is $100 more than was needed for this billing cycle, so that will be applied to next year. Specifically I would like to thank the Red Devils Clan, who donated $100 this year, and have donated close to $500 in total. Also, all the double and triple donators, thank you for your continued generosity. Last but not least, everyone on the donators list who gave whatever they could, every amount large or small is appreciated.
The 2009/2010 billing year raised more in donations than any previous year, in fact I think more was raised this year than to two previous years combined... or close to it! The course for CCS will remain the same. Keep tuned in as I follow and consolidate all the news from Matrix and around the community into my Player’s News periodical. Keep submitting your mods, they will all be added with sometimes a couple weeks lag time. Terrain Challenge will keep running, and Hamachi will stay this sites primary meeting ground. Gentlemen... happy hunting... MOOXE out!
Starting on November 25th and continuing until Midnight on January 17, 2010, gamers around the globe will be able to purchase most titles in the Matrix Games catalog at up to 30% off! In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited
and found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some
of the great Close Combat mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank
all the members of our volunteer staff that have helped over
the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
