I'm thinking of buying one of the Close Combat games to play with my son and this one piqued my interest.  How does this version compare to the others?  How stable is it?  How well does it play in multiplayer?

This patch is a must have update for CCMT 45mb

This hefty new update includes plenty of new units both on the ground and in the air in addition a number of other tweaks and AI improvements. Most significantly, infantry and vehicles for both the US Marine Corps and the UK Army have been added to the force pool! Also, plenty of new air assets both for the US and Opfor have been added, including: Mi-24, Ka-50 Hokum, British Tornado, Eurofighter Typhoon and Eurocopter Tiger. There are lots of shiny new pieces of equipment to command and destroy!

Download and unzip this file to your Close Combat - Modern Tactics folder.

This updates and adds more functionality to the ModSwap tool.

Thanks very much to both of you for responding.

STWA:  I'm puzzled by your need to rename, modify and delete files.  Can you elaborate on why this was necessary?  Also, how active/robust is the community?  Specifically with regard to modding and assistance with game mechanics.

The multiplayer feature of CCMT is not done all that well. No team chat, everyone is same colour, if someone loses connection the whole game ends..... Finding opponents for multiplayer is next to impossible also. It would be best to start with a CC version that has a campaign feature. Which is pretty much any version but CCMT.

Thanks again for the feedback.  I intend to play multiplayer with my son to further his interest in wargaming while simultaneously getting in some quality time together....not too worried about the availability of other opponents.

Getting a little off topic but..

The expansion patch became available in early 2008 as the US Marine corps gave permission to use their data ... previously this was withheld, that is why it was army only.


As there was a scheduled exe upgrade coming out it was decided to bundle in the expansion at no charge to the customer.

Then in June this year and ugraded modswap app was made available.
