Unit Guide - German 88cm Flak

ger88cmFlak

Battlegroup Name: Heavy AT Gun
Turret Class: N/A
Turret Type: N/A
Crew: 7
Speed: Very Slow
Weight: 10,992 lb. (4,985 kg)
Engine: N/A
Schürzen: No

The first prototype testing for the 8.8cm Flak 18 began in 1929. Its inception was actually due to the failure of a 7.5cm version. As the name implies, these are actually anti-aircraft weapons. They entered anti-tank service once it was found that their high-velocity rounds were very effective at penetrating thick armor plate. Like the Panther G, the 88s had a fearsome reputation among Allied troops.
This is the most powerful gun that you will get, make good use of it. With a rate of fire approaching nine rounds per minute, an exposed armored vehicle is as good as dead. Make sure to guard your 88s well, you won't get them very often.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
