I bought CC5 from an outfit on line. It installed and ran correctly.
I d/l'd the 5.01 patch and installed that.
Game won't start.
It's looking for the CC5 cd. The cd is in the cd drive. This smells to me like the cd I bought was copied and now when I patch it it's looking for the cd and won't play without a no-cd crack. What do you guys think? Rolling Eyes

Game was purchased here http://www.myfreesoftware.com/games/clcombat5.htm

I know someone else in the forums here bought the game thru them.

What do the rookie terrian sub mods do?

#2 yes please check out the VETBoB readme file, use the German plugin when you want to play as the Germans.

It's rather weird that the VETBoB readme file is now corrupted after unzipping the mod to the cfg manager. The only way to read it is to dl the entire vetBoB mod (98mb!) again.

Thanks for taking the time to answer platoon_michael.
How would I get back to the original maps? Would I have to do a reinstall of the CC4 out of the box?

No, it was straight from the box.

However being curious, I just installed vetBob.

What a difference! It's very hard to beat the AI in that mod.

I also put the repainted maps from the down load section into the maps folder. Will this prevent me from playing on line with someone who has not put the repainted maps in but still has just the stock ones?

I've just recently gotten back into playing CC. I have CC 2-4 and just ordered #5.
I'm playing CC4 GC as the Germans and I have been kicking the stuffing out of the Americans (admitedly at the less than veteran level Embarassed ). Even when I go up against fresh enemy troops which have a green star (showing that they have powerful AT an AP capabilities) I don't have much trouble. My infantry is not spotted by enemy armor unless they open fire and my tanks stand a better than even chance of disabling or destroying the enemy before getting hit themselves.

Now, about halfway through the campaign and new Amer. units appear from the South (Patton?). Suddenly the Amer are supermen. My infantry are spotted in buildings by enemy tanks even if they are in the ambush mode. My medium tanks are destroyed by enemy light tanks. It doesn't seem I can do anything against them. Is this CC's way of simulating fresher, more experienced troops?

Yes, that was the problem. I neglected to set a time limit when I started the campaign Embarassed Thanks for the answers

I'm playing the GC on CC4. There is no time limit set for the battles. Apparently they end when morale is broken, or all victory positions are taken. The problem is sometimes I don't want to advance and neither does the AI. The only option seems to be to start over or flee since the AI won't accept a truce. Otherwise the battle could be stalemated forever. Any thoughts?

What is the difference between GJS and CC V? Is GJS a mod for CC V?
