PostForum: Close Combat The Bloody First   Posted: Wed May 20, 2015 10:14 am   Subject: Re: First Screens!
Nice to be back… I see I had 3 unread private messaged from 2006 and 2007  Very Happy  That’s pretty much the time I’ve been waiting for an all-new CC with new engine! I hope CC TBF will see daylight one day, it’s been a year since the first and so far last screenshot releases…

I’m disappointed as many here that there’s no strat layer, I was hoping it to be big and very flexible in terms of choices you can make, bg creating/merging/splitting/stacking, ability to fortify/dig-in positions on maps etc. Graphics look really classic CC, which makes the game very “recognizable” but I would have hoped for a more photorealistic approach to be honest. For 2015 the game looks a bit cartoonish given its high level of realism, and “classic” is just a nice way to say “old”  Confused  Also one sided campaign surprises me and with a disappointment… as does missing some basic CC features like multi story buildings. Few questions arise.

- Co-op multiplayer: is it 4-way multiplayer, like 2vs2  Cool? Or 2vsAI  Rolling Eyes?
- Will there be different weather conditions and times of day with corresponding effects and lighting as we are 3D?
- Any news on map size? E: The mini-map in screenshots indicates a fairly small map size but that's just an alpha/test map probably.. i hope.
- A company level campaing, I suppose you will have just a single bg (like in CC3)?

For future I hope there will be a large start layer with a MMOG feat so that each battlegroup is controlled by one player in tactical battle mode. Start would be turn based (move all units at once) and be operated by one of the players. All tactical battles would take place at the same time, online would proceed quickly and have new thrilling elements. Multiplayer is not future, it is today, they should really put leverage on developing it!  Idea

Is CC6 dead?

It was like 2 years ago I visited this site and discussion on the subject was very active .

And to be honest, in order to make it sell more than just to diehard CC fans they would have to update the engine in many respect. Graphics etc. There has not been dramatic improvement in last 15 years...

I bought COI but was dissapointed with it. I really couldn't find much new. It felt the same as before, less obvious flaws maybe. That's just not enough to light the feeling I had with original CC2 when I got it. I rate it one of the most groundbraking games ever. The atmosphere was overwhelming. I miss that feeling.  Confused

Hi!

Nice new images in the Karelia folder. New strat map etc. is there an update coming and when it might be available? In the download section there's still v 1.1.

Looks excellent btw!

Thanks,

I look forward to a fix at some point but there's no need to push it Dima. This is no show stopper issue Smile

Like Antifa said, it's better this way. Too vulnerable gun crews could result guns to become useless and that would hurt gameplay a lot more. So please do only some minor adjustements at first.

Anyway thanks for such a wonderful mod, it was nice to be able to help a little.

Arty strikes:
- Duration/number of strikes is ok

- Shells could be a bit more powerful
E.g. At airfield Hangar 2 was full of russian troops. I ordered and arty strike on the Hangar, losses were minimal if any.

- In turn of being more powerful they should be less concentrated. IRL today single arty strikes cover approx. 100x300m area (3 batteries total 12 guns, all fire 4 rounds. Finnish army). I don't know what was the doctrine in 1942 but the affected area in Stalingrad is very small. Original CC3 had the area quite right actually. Although I suppose individual shells were too powerful in org CC3.

So for arty: a little more powerful shells, a lot more cluttered explosions

Airstrikes:
Yet no clear opinion on these. First impressions is that these could be more powerful. We are talking about 250 kg bombs, these should affect tanks and crew even without a direct hit. Artillery warheads were what, 25 kg? Accuracy is quite high, hitting a single tank was not easy.

So in general, less accuracy, more power Smile

PostForum: CC5 Stalingrad   Posted: Tue Oct 25, 2005 8:54 am   Subject: Unkillable gun crews?
Hello,

I didn't read all the 10 pages so sorry if this has been mentioned before.

AT and infantry guns seem to be extremely hard if not impossible to kill by infantry. I have assaulted guns as close as 10-20m from behind. My infantry team is firing their rifles and throwing grandes on the gun&crew and nothing happens. Excpet the gun traverses 180 degrees and starts firing at my infantry team.

Is there a bug with certain (I've played only on the German side) guns/crews that they can't be killed? Right now the only way to get rid of an enemy gun is to destroy the weapon itself with another large caliber gun or possibly with satchel charge/explosives I don't know. Even in these cases the crew usually gets away intact.

I'm still in the opening battles so I've encountered mostly russian 37mm AT guns and possibly some 45mm AT and 76,2mm short barreled infantry guns in case this problem is gun specific. My only destroyed gun is a German Pak38 which was blown away by a russian tank. This crew bail out unhurt aswell.

Finally I'd like to thank the mod mod team, this is the greatest mod ever. Very well done in every aspect, playability and balance are right on target.

EDIT: My apologies to forum admin. I was posting a reply to the Stalingrad bugs/mistakes thread but by mistake made a new topic instead.

PostForum: Close Combat 5: Invasion Normandy   Posted: Mon Aug 08, 2005 6:10 pm   Subject: CC5 Winter War mod problem
Hi!

Winter War mod crashes on me everytime I try to enter Pulliniemi or Säiniö maps. I have dowloaded the latest version 1.3. and installed the full map pack.

It behaves like the maps were not present, do I need to rename some files?

Other than that looks like a great mod!

Running WinXP, CC5 patched to 5,01 prior installing the mod.

Thanks for help!
