And these are the Soviet weapons used by Iraq
Rouge5 is the author of all these icons.
The stock icons were taken from CC5 as they were and were not always fit for RtB, Iraqis dressed in WWII Fallschirmjager uniforms and armed with MG42
There are new gadgets for RtB which are almost completed, need to finish the small unit pics for the soldier monitor... btw anyone still plays RtB after release of CC Modern Tactics? |

There is an unreleased weapons package by Rouge5, made for Road to Baghdad. The icons are in tga format and ready for use ("upside down" to be used with Gadgetmunger). These can also be used for other modern versions of CC.
The package includes Soviet and US weapons from the modern era as well as German MG3.
What do we need to do, to post this weapons package in the Downloads section here? |

A later CCM based commercial game is CC Modern Tactics. The latest patch has US Army, USMC, British, Paramilitary and Soviet Equipped units. The good old maps from CCM 3.1. are there, and some new ones added.
There is also a game Road to Baghdad, based on an older version of CCM (2.1 or so). People with CCM say this one sux but until the release of CCMT it was the only CCM based commercial game. |

There are two versions, v.2.0 (no idea where to find it, not on the downloads any more), a grand campaign for v.2.0. and a newer v.3.0.
Anyone has an idea where to find the v.2.0 plugin, or anyone has it backed up? |

The weapons are on the way.
Need to find out how to upload them here.
Any more ideas how to make a better RtB? They are takling about a commercial version of a new game based on CCM, maybe even this year. But until that happens we can do some more work on RtB and show the people it is a good game, with a bit of upgrade. |

Hi Wittmann44,
The gadgets are finished so the new weapons graphics is in game.
Do you know how to upload it to here? I can also send it by mail. |

There is nothing wrong with the current music for Alamein mod, actually I like it. Just made another music file, the song of the German Africa Corps. |

No idea but you can have RtB data files with a larger number of teams (each side having US units, Soviet equipped units and paramilitaries) so that your RtB turns into a game where you can design scenarios for both sides as if you were playing CCM. All this was done by simple data modding, without touching the exe file. |

Some good news from RtB front. After some effort (advice from Nembo) we found a way to have more teams in the game, so that each side can have US equipment, Soviet equipment and paramilitaries (which can be defined as mujahideens). This can make the Soviet-Afghan war or even a hypothetical WW3 with USA on the mujahideen side (we are all very lucky it did not happen in reality).
There is need for Soviet planes and helicopters, the Soviets flying F18s will not look very realistic. |

The main thing that RtB misses in comparison with CCM is a function for switching sides.
With that function provided, RtB could be used for CC3 scenario conversions, using graphics from CC5. The scenarios can be arranged in sequence that makes "pseudo campaigns" like in the original RtB, finish one scenario and go over to the next one. Soldiers will not have experience and skill development, but real soldiers do not turn into terminators after a year of real war.
The number of teams in RtB is slightly smaller than but can be raised to 16 vehicles and 21 infantry teams for the player's side and double that amount for the AI side. |

Currently it is on my HD but I would like to offer ot to all RtB players and upload it here, just not clear how it is done. This is the my first mod, in co-operation with Rouge5. He has made the icons and I have modified the weapons.adb file so that the new icons can be used in the game. |

There is a new screen gadget and weapons file for RtB. The new icons were made by Rouge5.
New cannons for tanks instead of that short 75mm thing borrowed from early issies of StuG III. The M1A1 also gets a new cannon.
The Iraqis have stopped using MG42 and have the correct rifles and MGs.
Changed the sound for T72 and T80 fire, now it is the same as M1A1. |

There are helicopters as well as planes in RtB. And there is a mission ''catch Saddam Husein" which could give you some ideas.
All units are in fact there, take the Fedayeens and rename them to Somalis, and the US units will then be Delta. There are AT rocket launchers. AD weapons will be useless due to game limitations, no shooting down planes in CC series. |

Will the mod be RtB or CC5 based?
Capture of Amin's palace will be one of the first battles, it was a famous operation of the Soviet special forces.
I am not sure about Taleban, during the war rebels were called "dushman" by the soviets and "mujahideen" by themselves; but there could be special operations on the mujahideen caravan routes and there were several larger offensives against Ahmad Shah Masoud, one of the best mujahideen commanders. The Soviets kind of pushed him out of positions several times but as soon as Soviets left the area Masoud was back again. Or we can make a fictitious mujahedeen leader and foght with him.
I would definitely play the game, after all it is a game and that war is over. The new one is another story, sad for the poor country.
If you need some assistance with research and Soviet names in Russian let me know. |

There are paramilitaries in the Road to Baghdad game which can be very easily converted into Afghan dudes. There you also have examples for missions, like advance in the mountains, convoy ambush and hunt for the enemy leader.
Not so easy to remember a good song at once, there are many patriotic Soviet songs from WW2 era and earlier, but what would be a typical Afghan song? I have heard several. Any ideas? |
