I just reinstalled cc5 on a newer computer to try to get ready for this saturday. My map scrolling is light speed, even on the slowest setting, and I have a hunch that the game is running slightly slow/laggy. Any suggestions? I am running XP.

Question - If I manually update the mod while it's uninstalled, will i have to do this everytime I install the mod, if I want to switch between different mods?

I'm surprised no one mentioned Empire or Global Conquest but those were my first two, I still have both of them running thru Dos Box on my comp., along with V for Victory and Panzer General. Anyone like The Perfect General 1 or 2 (2 for me) by chance? I think those five rounded out my war gaming as a child.... good ole days....

No it does. I got it working and I dunno if everyone else is just having a perfect time with gamespy or what not but I sure do see a ton of posts about getting dc'ed at end of round or having a drop to completed ratio of 1:1 or something but I was able to play 6-8 maps in a row in the GC of DerKessel with Antony earlier today with no problems at all. We were getting the 0:00 crash and then the moral failure crash and then the truce crash but after scanning the forums we both just changed the compatibility of the cc5.exe file to windows 98/me or whatever it was and from then on out perfect gaming experience. Quiet simple and easy and really seeming like a good way to play CC. I encourage everyone to check out this hamachi thing, its free, its simple, and it seems like a great tool for bypassing the static ip issues with gamespy.

Thanks a ton to Dima and rd_roach for there help in getting us connected. Please, feel free to msn message me at tekheppicor [at] yahoo [dot] com or just join the hamachi network so we can get some games going!

Ok so I just got hamachi running, with relative ease. I have not found anyone else to play with yet or found any such lists of cc5 players on hamachi so I thought I might as well make one. For those of us who are forever denied by the wretched gamespy (hehe). I made a network

called: Close Combat 5
pw: cc5

So please join up and perhaps we can start a community of our own so those of us that can do nothing more then look longingly at the gamespy close combat chat window might now be able to duke it out

There is not much to look at. It looks kinda like a little remote the size of a playing card, seems to be harmless. Just has a power button and a join/create network button. But if it solves my h2h issues or lack there of, I'm happy. Antony, my msn is tekheppicor [at] yahoo [dot] com. I've never played online either and like you i'm dying for it. Message me so we can try this out

Didn't read the whole list so I don't know if this was mention but The Beardless Warrior by Richard Matheson was absolutely amazing, I ended up not being able to put it down and reading it in a day. The author served in ww2 and wrote this inspired by that (methinks it could be his way of talking about what happened and use fake names etc., just a hunch) and covers about two weeks in December as the Americans are preparing to cross the Siegfried Line and advance into Germany. Worth anyone's time if you ask me.

Another good book I partially read (1000+ pgs >.<) was In Mortal Combat by John Toland covering the Korean War. Very detailed and told from a day to day firefight to firefight point of view that really made it easy to digest the abundance of data he put in it.

just copy it from the packages folder in the config manager to the appropriate spot in the cc folder on your harddrive. I think someone else already posted on exactly where to put it...

I have pretty much played most of the mod's available for cc5, much gratitude for those that have taken their time to make them, and I was wondering if anyone knew of any in development mod's for any of the fighting in italy, namely anzio of perhaps the stalemate around the gustav line. Anyone know anything or did I somehow overlook something already completed? Thanks

If you go to google video's and search for ww2 video's you'll find that there are literally tons of lenthy video's with seemingly random strings of characters for there titles. They seem to all be hosted from this site factual factory but the actual site does not help. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2544006321095455137&q=AX5320

click that link to get you started. It is really a just a effort of trial and error as you click on the video's in the right hand column that have title's like "AX5320" or what have you, some are in color, some aren't, some are in english, some are silent. I have even seen some in german, french, and japanese but I am not sure what other languages, they are definately worth looking at. I have watched dozens of hours of these and have truely been blown away at some of the footage. Hope this helps!
