So I got around to beating the campaigns as Allies and as Axis.  What's the next step?  Is there some must have mods, map packs or whatnot?  This is the one game in the remake series I've played where the AI wasn't 100% derp, so I'd like to stick with this one.

I was tempted to use screenshots from Google Earth, but thought maybe that might not work.  Not sure how building tops and whatnot are done - two seperate map sections, one with and one without?

Hi all,
Its been a long time since I played anything from CC series, and kinda forgot lot about it, but I would like to bring few more people into this.

Welcome back!

babalui wrote (View Post):

1) Could you be so kind to tell me what CC titles support more then 2 players in 1 battle, and how many? Like CCM had it.

Just CCM and CCMT.

babalui wrote (View Post):

2) Also, does any title provide campaign AND support for more then 2 players?

Nope :/

babalui wrote (View Post):

3) Whats the situation with MMCC? I remember that COI had something out of the box, but is there (and where) MMCC full dl for any other title.

Don't quite follow?

Thanks in advance!

No problem!

Goodness; is there any other way to paint maps other than PS/GIMP?  No pre-done things to assemble?

Question:  Rifle squads without an MG and leader squads in the German army have 'fausts.  They're handy, because I need those squads anyway - I can draw armour with a rifle squad and flank with a 'schrek, and even if the tank turns towards the latter the former can still do some harm.

That said, there are these tiny 2-man teams that carry rifles and a single faust.  Short of not having any 'shrek or rifle teams, why on earth would I take them above a rifle team or a 'shrek team?  Is there some quality about them I do not understand?

Thanks,

PostForum: Close Combat Modern Tactics   Posted: Sat Mar 31, 2012 1:32 pm   Subject: Couple of questions
Just coming back to CCMT, hoping to make this one my go-to multiplayer Modern RTT game.  I have a few questions:

Do units with M4's / M16's ever use more than single shot?  Only played Army so far.

What is "Neutral Deployment" in the editor referencing?  Is it possible to place Civilians?

For units with underslung grenade launchers, is there an option / patch to not have them expend every single grenade on the first fire order beyond 10'?

I've noticed my M2A3's launch ATM's at infantry - is there a fix?

Is there a bone-fide reason we're given the option to take individual soldiers over whole sections?  I thought about building a scenario based around that, but wasn't sure if that was a working option.

Is there a strat guide that would give me better insights to how many units fit in X vehicle and how each one performs on the battlefield?

Thanks!

I have noticed a glitch with this game on my desktop (which is well beyond the requirements of the game).  If I run the game at "Medium" speed, like I usually do with the other CC games, all my troopers in CCMT will begin to skip frames.  That is, instead of walking from point A to B, they begin to "warp", and they don't animate at all.  If prone at A, they will "warp" inch by inch in a prone position (with same facing) until they reach the goal.

Doesn't happen if I run it at fast, though.  What gives?

I've heard that the latest version of CCMT from Matrix doesn't work for multiplayer; does this hold true for LAN or just for some online services?

PostForum: Close Combat The Longest Day   Posted: Wed Feb 08, 2012 8:00 pm   Subject: Function of light vehicles
So I've been playing this game a lot lately (just manged to throw the US back to the sea in one of the Campaigns - Utah Beach.  I noticed that as the Germans, I didn't have a whole lot of armor, but then again I think that might have been the reality on the ground in that region at the time.

Then, playing one a one-off battle as the British, I was surprised to find a Bren Carrier!  I think that's the lightest vehicle I've seen at all in this version of Close Combat.

It was quickly killed.

So I have a couple questions:

1)  Where are the lighter vehicles?  Do they simply not feature in this rendition?  I know when I played Cross of Iron they were in spades - Pumas on down to half tracks.  And they were fairly useful, too, given the point cost of heavy armor.

2)  Having realized there's rarely a shortage of heavy armor in the scenarios I've played in The Longest Day and having only so many slots to select from, I've begun to wonder what the usefulness of anything lighter than a Sherman is.  The Bren Carrier was swift and I -think- it had greater LOS than a tank, but it was fragile - more fragile than a squad in that an incoming AT round usually only gets one man in a squad.  So...why pick one of these over something heavy?

Any case, thanks for any help!

Well, I played that but there doesn't seem to be any of the maps replaced - I still have just the CoI scenarios.

schreckne, if I hit cancel, it says it was unable to open a folder in my install directory called data\base
ames.txt

Also, I'm not sure if I had this issue before but none of the maps from the mappack are showing up in the game - I only have the Russian front ones.  The maps from the Nam map pack are installed in the same folder as CoI's maps.

Well, it asks for it when I try and launch the mod; the core game itself does not.

Both call my bluff on not having the CD (borrowed a friends who is now upstate at college) so that'll have to wait until he's back down this summer.  Thanks though!

So back on topic:  What would you like to see as a future official game?

It is the "Atmosphereic Modern Mod" with the CC3 icon, right?  And I'm after Version 2?

I think the earlier actions against the NVA were pretty much large scale actions against two conventional forces, but I could be wrong.  Where can I find this CC3 mod?  I love Cross of Iron (I have the current 3.6 patch but I haven't noticed if there was any sound changes), and would like to see what can be done.

I'm trying to patch CCV:  Invasion Normandy, which installs to C:\Program Files\Mattel Interactive\Close Combat .

Do I point the patch installer (which defaults to C:\Program Files for some reason) to the above path or another folder within it?  I've tried installing to where I posted above, but there doesn't seem to be any change in the version number (it remains 5.0).

Help?

So far all the available CC games are based on World War 2, except Modern Tactics which seems to be some kind of generic-y third world situation.  WW2 is a logical starting point as it had a large number of large scale operations, is well remembered due to all of the propaganda, books and movies based on it and most important of all is an extremely well documented war.  The last point is vital in making a historical game, as from what I've gathered every little detail was written down somewhere, and as the conflict was very recent most of these documents survive.  It is also very easy to romanticize this war, especially if you live in the US.

But, as I currently live in the US, I and most of the other gamers I know are rather weary of the same WW2 stuff.  There's very little done on anything outside of the European theater, and even less if you're talking about ground combat oriented games.

SO, for 20th/21st century conflicts what would you like to see in some never-to-be-made CC sequel?  It could be anything, from the Banana Wars of the early 20th to obscure operations during the cold war and beyond.  The only qualifier is that it has to be a real conflict - no Cold War gone hot scenarios (as fun as they may or may not be).

For me, I'm tempted to say WW1, as it is a neglected and overlooked war usually summed up as if the entire war was the battles of the Somme and Passchendaele.  If it was WW1, though, I'd focus on the Mesopotamian Theater, where light horse units and ANZAC guys did a lot of the heavy lifting against the Turks.  It lends itself to more mobile "classic" close combat battles.  There's even tanks later on.

However, being more realistic I'd say Viet Nam.  In particular, from the very beginning with the French fighting in their Indo-China colony in '46, though more realistically probably from the period just before US intervention.  That way it'll have more than just US troops - there will be French (or at least French backed - not sure exactly who was stationed there, might have been locals) troops.  Close in jungle action, though it might well be very difficult in CC style as skirmishes could unfold and end faster than you can get your mouse cursor to the unit that suddenly came under fire.  Naturally, the Vietnamese forces could be split between more conventional NVA (with planes, tanks and regular infantry) and the less conventional Viet Cong (irregular fanatics).

What do you guys think?

From my personal experience, hanging drum mags put extra wear on the magazine well.  I cannot speak for top mounted drums though - probably had their own problems.

Though it doesn't quite fall into the "Magazine MG" discussion the IJA Type 92 fired a 30 round stripper clip kinda thing.  Check it out:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_92_Heavy_Machine_Gun

If it had a more modern looking handle, it would be totally retro sci fi.
