I don't have win10, I downgraded back to win7 due to the fact a lot of my older games do not run or run properly on windows 10 because something to do with the directdraw and directx 8 and below emulation is completely broken in windows 10 |

the only thing ccstarter helped for me was the annoying menu draws on cc2, but for other games it makes them have an error message or doesn't fix anything and my cpu only lets me go down to 20% which still seems to be too fast for CC |

I ran it in a virtual windows 98 on virtualpc 2007 and did a little test, it seems without the 1.0a patch the scrolling is smooth and runs a little better, with the 1.0a patch it goes hyperspeed again. I think they removed the fps limiter or whatever it is in the patch, but it's impossible to get running without patch on new pc because of indeo error |

I upgraded for a little while, saw they didn't fix the directdraw problem from windows 8 which brakes a lot of older games, so I downgraded back. |

For me and a lot of others using Windows 95 compatibility mode on CC1 gives me an error about indeo codec, the only method that works for me is installing the 1.0a patch and using Windows NT 4.0 Compatibly mode (because without patch there is no support for Windows NT), but on windows 8/10 there's no option for that so I'm not sure how to get it running there.
And yes using those methods don't help the scrolling for me, although I was trying it on CC3 and 4
Cpukiller just makes it jerky for me |

Hello, i'm fairly sure this has been bought up many times but is there a proper way to fix the scroll speed in the old games? And yes I know I can use arrow keys but I want to see if you can fix the scrolling with the mouse.
This problem happens in CC1 - CC5. In CC2 the scroll speed is only normal whenever you are dragging out an order or moving a unit in the deployment, but is hyper speed if you are not doing those things. Also funnily enough the scroll speed seems to be fine in the CC1 demo, yet in the full game it's as bad as the others, this suggests that the demo has some sort of framerate limit? and for the rest of the games it's hyper speed regardless.
My specs incase that is relevant: CPU: AMD A10-6800k (quad core) GPU: AMD HD 7950 Ram: 8GB DDR3 OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Things I have tried are: Compatibility mode Cpu killer program (This doesn't fix it, it just makes the game jerky for me) Changing the affinity to 1 core Lowering cpu usage in power options (the lowest it lets me go is 2GHz) Starting the games with CC starter And all at the same time
And none have really fixed it, it still just jumps to the other end of the map whenever i move the cursor to the edge of the screen for a millisecond. Is there a way to cap the framerate maybe? |

Hello, what ever happened to the great war mod for CC2? I used to love that mod but I can't seem to find it anywhere, I managed to find one website but all the files are separate and half of the links are dead meaning its impossible to get running.
Also about the kreta mod for CC2, I can't seem to get it working, i copy all the files over as instructed but i keep getting error messages and crashes, is there a version i can download that's already set up or easy to install?
Thanks

i have some cc2 mods in my archive, perhaps i coul help you
regards, m
|
Yes please that would be great, where could I find your archive
@Tejszd Thanks but that just links me to the site I already tried, although there's a few more mods there that I will have to try out
@bobbielidl Yes that's the site I looked at, the map downloads are broken there, and theres no clear instructions on how to put the mod together as you have to download loads of files separately |

Problem still is finding people to play with however :D
And to answer your question maybe port forwarding? I know CC2 uses port 1945 by default so port forwarding that could potentially work for a direct connection via TCP/IP but can't be certain as never tried, and it seems to be a 50/50 chance of that getting mp working on older games which is why I mostly use hamachi for older games these days |

Hello, I've played a lot of close combat before but only ever singleplayer, I have never played multiplayer but would love to try it out some time, I am probably no where near a veteran player but I want a bit of fun etc. How do i find people to play with and also how can i play it online? I have pretty much the original 5 CC games and have the latest 3 of the matrix games downloaded, although I'd preferably like to play CC2 as i'm a little more familiar with it than the later games, but any of the games is fine |

Hmm I can't find anything about rotating in any of the PDF's so far, I found CC2tools lets me rotate maps but it only lets me rotate the map 90 degrees in one direction and not 180 or 90 to the other way |

Hello, I wanted to rotate some of the maps in CC2 so that the north of the map will be at the top, but I am wondering if this is possible without having to re do a lot of things such as terrain etc, and how would I go about doing it.
An example here from an early beta screenshot of CC2:
Any help would be great, thanks. |

The game was designed for old PowerPC Macs, it won't run on modern Intel Macs natively. The only way to play it is by using SheepShaver to emulate Mac OS 8 or 9, or use a program such as Vmware Fusion or Virtualbox to emulate a version of Windows. |

I have had a similar problem with CC2 CFG manager. Check C:\Users\Your username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore, sometimes it keeps the files there making it impossible to uninstall even if you reinstall the game, if you see anything there just delete it, turning off UAC can prevent it from moving files there, then after try reinstalling the game and cfgv13 and it should be fine, keep the save file if you need it. |

My biggest gripe with CC5 was the AI, in CC1-CC4 it would attack when it was supposed to, not in the smartest ways admittedly but it did something where as in CC5 about 80% of the time even if the AI was the attacking side it would not move an inch from the spawn till after 20 minutes if that. The campaign just didn't feel fun or intense like the previous games and that is what killed this game for me. This seems to be a problem with the matrix titles too. The problem is the AI sucks on big maps, it needs smaller maps to achieve success. I wouldn't have a problem with big maps if the AI was coded for it but it seems they are only good on smaller maps. Maybe on multiplayer big maps are a great thing but I primarily play singleplayer. I do enjoy playing mods for CC5 now and then but without mods it's just not as fun as previous titles in my opinion. |

@DJ Funnily enough the original CC was on MAC first and wasn't released on pc till half a year later, shame they stopped supporting mac after cc2, even though personally I've never been a mac owner
@Sapa Yeah when it comes to mods CC5 is king I agree, but the reason I put it last is because I was basing it on the stock games rather than modding capabilities, in that case it was the weakest of the 5 in my opinion |

As a brit I fully support what Putin is doing, I wish our lousy government were doing the same rather than funding them. The western leaders could learn a thing or 2 from Putin. |
