Hi all,
I am a big CC fan too and from the moment COI came out , I downloaded it (after paying ofcourse) and played for like 15 minutes to realise it is exactly the same as CC III. Can anyone tell me what they really changed?? And yes, I know the Matrix site gives all the improvements but I cant seem to see them.
Ok, the game code is old and for them it is difficult now to allow everyone easy access to multiplayer games with all the routers and firewalls. So forget all the multiplayer aspects they give with the game because NO ONE is playing it online because of the many problems!!!!! Ok ok, I can understand that. But than they say "Improved AI". Woohoo, improved AI I thought and played watching the so-called AI in action: Let me tell you that they didnt change ANYTHING AT ALL! They just ripped of the money of fans who love the CC series.
And now they are going to do the same with CC5??
For anyone who is doubting about the re-release of CC5: Just look what they did with CCIII and COI.
CoI: - no multiplayer , no single-player (yes, the AI is THAT bad)
A disappointed fan (please start with CC6)
ps: One guy said it right once: I can set up my team in the beginning of the game, press the begin button, leave my pc , come back half an hour later, get a decisive victory... |

Hi all,
I have been testing how to make in game videos for the CC series. You can see the results here.
If you like it than let me know or ask me any question. A small tutorial will be posted soon.

Edit:
Hi all,
if you are interested in making ingame CC videos than take a look at a few examples I uploaded on esnips:
http://www.esnips.com/doc/3359449d-6960-482c-8453-6373ab8393e1/c olossos5.wmv
First download an auto screen recorder:
http://www.wisdom-soft.com/products/autoscreenrecorder.htm
There are better screen recorders available on the internet for free. F.e.
http://www.thesilver.net/
I havent tested this one out but it looks promising because you can record sound and set up frame rate recording. I'll test it later but for now I'll stick to the wisdom-soft recorder.
Install the recorder, choose the full screen record mode after installation and put the recorder on stand by mode.
Start a CC game (against the AI, but it will work online as well) and whenever you like, press F9 to start record. F10 to stop recording. Important: DONT record whole games! start with just a few interesting minutes or so because the video files are very large!!!
When you press F10 to stop recording, you recieve a message with says that the file has been saved. When you look at this file it will be enormous. Actually now you have your movie! Now there are two options: go to windows movie maker, import the video, drag it to the timeline and choose save movie as. The file will be saved in a very small file but the detail will probalby be crappy (Test it yourself, it only takes 3 minutes of work). An example of me can be found at
http://www.esnips.com/doc/a9ababaf-7603-4b86-872d-b5972c5179d1/T est-windows-movie-maker.wmv
The second option is using Sony vegas 6.0 which can be download for free at
http://www.download.com/Vegas/3000-2194_4-10503613.html
< br>Download it and install it. Now you are ready for making quality videos without losing detail and minimizing file sizes. Now, dont go dreaming and think you can record 10 minutes and have only 10MB of file size.
In my next post (very soon) I will tell you what settings you need to have checked on in sony vegas to save your videos. |

I will post a small tutorial on how I make the ingame videos. Does anyone know a good site to upload files? Because i have some example videos but dont find a good site to upload them. I dont want to upload on youtube.com because it screws up the detail level too much and the uploading is a bit slow.
The biggest problem is the file size of the videos but I try to overcome that problem by using sony vegas 6.0. For the moment I need around 20 MB for a 1 minute movie but this is with the highest level of detail and shows the entire gaming screen.
Thx.

Hi all,
I just tested how to make ingame videos of the CC games. It works for all the CC games but I have only did a small test for CC2. You can find it on
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZZ6pw31LzY
The quality isnt very good and it is very short but I can improve that and it was just a test. If someone is interested I'll make better and longer videos for CC5.
It would be fun to see real ingame fire fights between different people instead of the static screenshots.

Hi,
I have a few tactical questions/problems:
1. I suppress an enemy with 2 teams and than I assault with another team. But whenever the assaulting team (move fast command) gets close to the enemy they get mown down and I lose an entire team! What am I doing wrong?? Smoke doesnt help either.
2. I 'm going to take out a tank with my bazooka team but whenever this team gets a clear line of sight , so does the enemy tank and KABOEM my team is wiped out before they can fire a rocket. How do you take out tanks?
3. If you fire at an area (yellow dot, not the red dot) is it possible to kill soldiers? When do you use the fire area command? Suppression doesnt seem to work for me (see first point).
4. When do you use the Move command and when the Move Fast command?
5. Sometimes I have 4 teams firing at an enemy for like 5 minutes and they still havent killed it! What a waste of ammo. And assaulting is pure suicide.
Thx,

I bought CC5 recently because I liked CC2 alot and thought it was time for something fresh. But i am really disappointed! The game is great but it's that horrible AI !!
Is it just me or does CC2 seems much harder than CC5 ??
In CC5 the AI barely moves his tanks, the infantry run into MG fire over and over and over again, the AI never heard of defending or flanking, he just wants that last Victory Location while I am the one that should be attacking.... It's just a matter of setting up your men, press begin , put the game in fast mode and watch your men slaughtering the enemy. You dont even have to move your men, the AI just keeps sending cannon fodder...
Can someone tell me how I can make this game more difficult without losing the realistic aspects? Why was CC2 so much harder? Why does the AI intend to attack if they are supposed to defend?
It kinda ruins the game.
Do people still play this game online?
Thx, Colossos |
