Recently I downloaded the Winter War mod for CCV. We tested to see that it works and fought a battle. We found that there was room for improvement in the data\base files, so I set to work modding them.

After finally completing the modding last night, I found out that the game now crashes upon loading the battle map in Winter War.
Easy, just re-install the mod with the original data\base and troubleshoot, right?

Wrong. Even after uninstalling/reinstalling the Winter War plugin, and making sure the original Winter War data\base files are there, the game still crashes when loading the battle (CC5.exe has encountered a problem, etc. , no error code). I even made sure by re-exctracting the Winter War maps, to no avail.

All the other mod plugins I have work correctly, but Winter War will not.

The question is, what could be the cause of this? It´s 100% positive that my altered .adbs have been replaced by the plugin´s own .adb files.

Edit note: The obvious solution of re-installing CCV from scratch is unfortunately not an option, as I currently have my disc drive under repair.
....unless, of course, I can find a good torrent file for it!....off to search...

Edit: After further testing, it was found that some maps actually do work, and some don´t.
This is a Winter War problem. Perhaps it should be moved there?

Edit: Error solved. The post can be removed.

After further consideration, I do think that the last-minute penalty was stupid, but it was a stupid move by everyone except the diving Italian...O´neill (I think) wasn´t thinking straight when he dove that way to block the Italian, the ref didn´t see it well once again, but the Italian - well, he did what was necessary to win. Not sporting, but I suppose there are not many who wouldn´t have "taken one for the team" in his shoes.

I also have to concur that Italy was the more experienced and skilled team on the field. Their defense was just too good for the Aussies who were too slow and timid to get into the box when it counted, and the attacks Italy did were always dangerous throughout the game.

However, the Italians are lucky indeed to face Australia followed by Ukraine in the knockouts.

Wow, that is one pathetic "win" by Italy...granted, the red card was uncalled for, and Australia was too slow to capitalize, but barely winning Australia by taking a dive at the last seconds? That is a sad, sad state for Italian football.

They just lost any sympathy I might ever had for that team...

Now, let´s see which "major" football country they get to struggle with next - Ukraine or Switzerland?

...but talk about refereeing! I suspect that was the last time Graham Poll whistles in a World Cup game!

3 yellow cards to Simunic...stopping play just before Australia was about to win..

I suppose neglecting to penalize Tomas´ SECOND handling of the ball in the penalty area was compensated by the Aussies´ second goal being an offside!

Anyhow, glad to see our Australian mates go through!

Well, if you´re enjoying single-player CC5, good for you. I´ve never been able to, and assumed from the atmosphere from these boards that that was the case with most of us. Perhaps I´m mistaken in this.

Greetings,

after a long absence, I decided to try and get back to Close Combat again.
Campaigning is my game, and as we all know, CC5 is an online-only game.
Hence, I require a regular opponent or a few for some Grand Campaign fun!
I can play any mod, but be warned - I like to mod and tweak CC a bit myself, too!

I have quite a lot of time on my hands, but I live in Finland, GMT+2. Yes, I´ll play till the AMs, but unfortunately not till 5-6, just so all you GIs across the pond know.

This offer is valid until I say it isn´t!

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
