Hi mate,
Model wise that sounds like info thats way too detailed, model is only 1/35.
But I sure would be interested anyway, if you have the time. After all, the more info I gather the easier the research gets. My mum has some of his army stuff(cap badges etc) somewhere "safe", but she can't find it . Have to get looking. |

Hi guys, a little help would be very much appreciated. Recently started researching my grandfathers military history and am currently waiting for the Army Records people to send me a copy of his service history. All I know at the moment is that he was in the South Wales Borderers, and family history/folklore says he was at D-Day and used to drive Universal Carriers, or as my Nan calls them Bren Carriers . Now I know it is possible he was present at D-Day, depending on which Battalion he was in, and I also have a picture of him stood in front of a carrier so, so far so good. Just need to wait for the documents to find out more.
Anyway... strayed way off point, sorry. I'm making a model loosely based on the small photo I have, but as it's black and white I would very much like to know what colour his beret would have been. I'm assuming it would have been the same khaki colour as the rest of his kit, but if anyone knows for sure would very much appreciate a nod in the right direction. Had a trawl through the internet but havn't found anything yet. |

Nice pics. But I can't believe the police did that to your passport!! Thats an official document right?! I can imagine some passport controls would take a very very dim view of that .
But I guess it's better than a battering |

Indeed not the kind of thing that pops up every day. Should've slapped a bit of fake tan on his legs though, would have been perfect then sorry
Got a book on the LRDG somewhere that I never got around to reading. Bearded Brigands I think it was called. Must see if I can find it. |

Nice. I always imagined those desert vehicles to be more pinky, must just be getting confused with more modern stuff like Gulf War 1. Is it true that they would blend into the landscape? You could watch them drive off fine, but as soon as you blinked you couldn't pick them up again. Thats what you call camo!
And the dagger.... "they don't like it up em"!! |

Not seen anything like this before sorry. What kind of circles? Are they like the command radius ones? Would it be possible for these to get stuck on, with somehow the space bar being locked in the on position? |

Actually try any aviation museum. If they have the stuff and you show enthusiasm I'm sure they'd be more than willing to help you out. |

If your in the UK maybe try Duxford. Or even the Shuttleworth Collection, I know they have quite a substantial library of stuff, and they may well have that kind of thing. |

A great film. Just wish I'd been able to see it at the cinema. I'm sure those massive landscapes would have looked amazing on the big screen. |

The V weapons may have been less than perfect as a "destuctive" weapon but I think they were far more successful as a psycological weapon. Prehaps the ww2 version of the I.E.D.
And yes, please don't forget that whilst the USAAF headed out over occupied Europe day after day the RAF did it night after night. And although Bomber Commands war may now be much maligned, the young crews were in no less danger and showed the utmost bravery. And just as with all the other branches of all the armed forces, many thousands never returned. |

Well it gives prices for annual subcriptions for UK, Europe, and Non Europe here so I should think you could get hold of it. Plus an email address for queries and comments here
And your right- horrible website. |
