Hey Polemarchos, just wanna let you know, its good to see people like you working for the U.N or may end up working for them.
they could do with more people like you, me thinks Wink

as for the U.S Armed Forces; it seems Redneck mentality isn't their only nor their biggest problem.

According to a recently released FBI report, Gang-related activity in the US military is increasing and poses a threat to law enforcement officials and national security.

The report, Gang Activity in the U.S. Armed Forces Increasing, dated January 12, states that members of nearly every major street gang have been identified on both domestic and international military installations. Members of nearly every major street gang, including the Bloods, Crips, Black Disciples, Gangster Disciples, Hells Angels, Latin Kings, The 18th Street Gang, Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13), Mexican Mafia, Nortenos, Surenos, Vice Lords, and various white supremacist groups, have been documented on military installations. Although most prevalent in the Army, the Army Reserves, and the National Guard, gang activity is pervasive throughout all branches of the military and across most ranks, but is most common among the junior enlisted ranks, according to the report. The extent of gang presence in the armed services is often difficult to determine since many enlisted gang members conceal their gang affiliation and military authorities may not recognize gang affiliation or may be inclined not to report such incidences.
Since 2004, the FBI and El Paso Police Department have identified over 40 military-affiliated Folk Nation gang members stationed at the Fort Bliss Army Installation in Texas who have been involved in drug distribution, robberies, assaults, weapons offenses, and a homicide, both on and off the installation.

Fort Hood, Texas, Army Installation officials have identified nearly 40 gang members on base since 2003. Military-affiliated Gangster Disciple members at Fort Hood have been responsible for robberies, assaults, theft, and burglaries on and off base.

Nearly 130 gang and extremist group members have been identified on the Fort Lewis, Washington, Army Installation since 2005. These gang members are believed to be responsible for many of the criminal misconduct incidences reported on base.

The FBI reports that accurate data reflecting gang-related incidences occurring on military installations is limited, since the military is not required to report criminal offense statistics occurring on post to the FBI. Consequently, military data reflecting criminal incidents are not incorporated into the Uniform Crime Report (UCR).

Why Do Gang Members Join the Military?

The FBI believes that gang members may enlist in the military to escape their current environment or gang lifestyle. Some gang members may also enlist to receive weapons, combat, and convoy support training; to obtain access to weapons and explosives; or as an alternative to incarceration. Upon discharge, they may employ their military training against law enforcement officials and rival gang members. Such military training could ultimately result in more organized, sophisticated, and deadly gangs, as well as an increase in deadly assaults on law enforcement officers.
In May 2005 an Army recruit and suspected Crip member was assigned to the US Army Finance Battalion where he engaged in drug distribution. He was eventually discharged from the Army for misconduct.

According to open source reporting and multiple law enforcement reporting, soldiers—including gang members—are currently being taught urban warfare for combat in Iraq, including how to encounter hostile gunfire.

The Defense Criminal Investigative Service reported in 2006 that gang members, particularly MS-13 members, are increasing their presence on or near US military installations.

Even though the policy violates Military recruiting regulations, US criminal courts have allowed gang members to enter the service as an alternative to incarceration. Several incidences wherein gang members have been recruited into the armed services while facing criminal charges or on probation or parole have been documented. In many instances, a gang member facing criminal charges may be provided the option to join the military or serve a jail sentence. Furthermore, some army recruiters have been known to conceal recruits' gang affiliation to help boost their enlistment numbers.

Increased Crime

Gang membership in the armed forces can disrupt good order and discipline, increase criminal activity on and off military installations, and compromise installation security and force protection. Gang incidents involving active-duty personnel on or near US military bases nationwide include drive-by shootings, assaults, robberies, drug distribution, weapons violations, domestic disturbances, vandalism, extortion, and money laundering. Gangs have also been known to use active-duty service members to distribute their drugs.
The Aurora Police Department reports that in July 2006 a Marine reservist and Maniac Latin Disciple gang member who had served in Iraq was charged with attempted murder in the shooting of three teenagers in Aurora, Illinois.

According to FBI investigative data, in April 2006 a Blood member and active duty soldier at Fort Lewis allegedly robbed a bowling alley on base and is a suspect in a home invasion robbery in Olympia, Washington.

In January 2005 a Fort Hood soldier and Gangster Disciple leader was convicted of two aggravated robberies in Killeen, Texas.22 According to open-source reporting, he allegedly directed 30 to 40 Fort Hood Gangster Disciple members to commit illegal activities including drug dealing, identity theft, and armed robberies.

its even spreading to germany it seems

couldn't make it today but i'll try my best to be online tommorrow from gmt 10pm onwards..

remember my gs name is BlackSn so sing out in case you see me in the lobby.
looking forward to facing you on the battlefield.. :Cool

PS: the gc i showed you pics from, i reloaded it and didnt make the last campaign winning move, instead switched some bats around and waited another turn before i attacked their last territory..

a decision wich rendered the situation the following

japanese reinforcements arrived, one fresh one disbanded bat.
it took me another 3 battles to win the gc, and guess what? the AI even kicked my butt in one battle !!

hard to believe but true and damn what a shame..

i really cant remember the AI ever walking over me like that, and at first i wasnt quiet sure whether im happy or pissed about the result, but i quickly settled for the latter since those bastards took out one of my beloved arty observers.

anyway..good mod, really enjoyed it :ok2

@ Uberdave

looking at your statistic i assume you played with always see enemy on for the japanese ? this would explain your relative high armor losses.. i tried this when playing Kessel but i just cant stand what it does to gamepay so i dont use this rule anymore .. here are the settings i used btw;

as for the GC enddate;

gmt -8, your evenings are my mornings (gmt +0) not ideal but doable, especially on the weekends, is your gsname Uberdave ?

well my schedule depends on a few things, but im pretty flexible and generally around alot.. let me know when you have time so we can work something out.

as for playing GC as Russians, you were right it was indeed a better play experience. some battles were even quiet close, i'm loving the big squads and arty spotters btw.. but all in all the japanese were no match for me and i blitzkrieg'd them rather quickly Very Happy

the mod looks promising, im about 5 days into the gc playing as japanese and i had some fun..no doubt, facing vast numbers of russian armor with only 3-4 light atg's has something. i really sympathize with the desperate situation the japanese were facing, but like with all the mods outthere the dumb as bread AI is just no challenge at all. and easely understands to balance the massive material advantage with incredible stupid moves..or non moves for that matter..
also i lose a atg for every 6-7 tanks i take out, so judging by that pace and by the fact that i already wiped the russians off two maps it seems like yet another dissapointing single player experience..

thats why im looking for someone to play a gc against, nothing serious just playtesting and to have some fun.. drop me a msg or find me on gamespy (BlackSn) incase you're liking this mod and like me cant stand the damn AI..

infact battling (?) the AI makes me depressive with a strong tendency to aggression and even slight signs of madness.. :drink1

i also feel this urge to strangle the dude who coded the AI, anyone knows where he lives ?

PS: thx for your work UberDave..kudos

http://news.independent.co.uk/world/fisk/article2112555.ece

Robert Fisk: A dictator created then destroyed by America
Published: 30 December 2006

Saddam to the gallows. It was an easy equation. Who could be more deserving of that last walk to the scaffold - that crack of the neck at the end of a rope - than the Beast of Baghdad, the Hitler of the Tigris, the man who murdered untold hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis while spraying chemical weapons over his enemies? Our masters will tell us in a few hours that it is a "great day" for Iraqis and will hope that the Muslim world will forget that his death sentence was signed - by the Iraqi "government", but on behalf of the Americans - on the very eve of the Eid al-Adha, the Feast of the Sacrifice, the moment of greatest forgiveness in the Arab world.

But history will record that the Arabs and other Muslims and, indeed, many millions in the West, will ask another question this weekend, a question that will not be posed in other Western newspapers because it is not the narrative laid down for us by our presidents and prime ministers - what about the other guilty men?

No, Tony Blair is not Saddam. We don't gas our enemies. George W Bush is not Saddam. He didn't invade Iran or Kuwait. He only invaded Iraq. But hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians are dead - and thousands of Western troops are dead - because Messrs Bush and Blair and the Spanish Prime Minister and the Italian Prime Minister and the Australian Prime Minister went to war in 2003 on a potage of lies and mendacity and, given the weapons we used, with great brutality.

In the aftermath of the international crimes against humanity of 2001 we have tortured, we have murdered, we have brutalised and killed the innocent - we have even added our shame at Abu Ghraib to Saddam's shame at Abu Ghraib - and yet we are supposed to forget these terrible crimes as we applaud the swinging corpse of the dictator we created.

Who encouraged Saddam to invade Iran in 1980, which was the greatest war crime he has committed for it led to the deaths of a million and a half souls? And who sold him the components for the chemical weapons with which he drenched Iran and the Kurds? We did. No wonder the Americans, who controlled Saddam's weird trial, forbad any mention of this, his most obscene atrocity, in the charges against him. Could he not have been handed over to the Iranians for sentencing for this massive war crime? Of course not. Because that would also expose our culpability.

And the mass killings we perpetrated in 2003 with our depleted uranium shells and our "bunker buster" bombs and our phosphorous, the murderous post-invasion sieges of Fallujah and Najaf, the hell-disaster of anarchy we unleashed on the Iraqi population in the aftermath of our "victory" - our "mission accomplished" - who will be found guilty of this? Such expiation as we might expect will come, no doubt, in the self-serving memoirs of Blair and Bush, written in comfortable and wealthy retirement.

Hours before Saddam's death sentence, his family - his first wife, Sajida, and Saddam's daughter and their other relatives - had given up hope.

"Whatever could be done has been done - we can only wait for time to take its course," one of them said last night. But Saddam knew, and had already announced his own "martyrdom": he was still the president of Iraq and he would die for Iraq. All condemned men face a decision: to die with a last, grovelling plea for mercy or to die with whatever dignity they can wrap around themselves in their last hours on earth. His last trial appearance - that wan smile that spread over the mass-murderer's face - showed us which path Saddam intended to walk to the noose.

I have catalogued his monstrous crimes over the years. I have talked to the Kurdish survivors of Halabja and the Shia who rose up against the dictator at our request in 1991 and who were betrayed by us - and whose comrades, in their tens of thousands, along with their wives, were hanged like thrushes by Saddam's executioners.

I have walked round the execution chamber of Abu Ghraib - only months, it later transpired, after we had been using the same prison for a few tortures and killings of our own - and I have watched Iraqis pull thousands of their dead relatives from the mass graves of Hilla. One of them has a newly-inserted artificial hip and a medical identification number on his arm. He had been taken directly from hospital to his place of execution. Like Donald Rumsfeld, I have even shaken the dictator's soft, damp hand. Yet the old war criminal finished his days in power writing romantic novels.

It was my colleague, Tom Friedman - now a messianic columnist for The New York Times - who perfectly caught Saddam's character just before the 2003 invasion: Saddam was, he wrote, "part Don Corleone, part Donald Duck". And, in this unique definition, Friedman caught the horror of all dictators; their sadistic attraction and the grotesque, unbelievable nature of their barbarity.

But that is not how the Arab world will see him. At first, those who suffered from Saddam's cruelty will welcome his execution. Hundreds wanted to pull the hangman's lever. So will many other Kurds and Shia outside Iraq welcome his end. But they - and millions of other Muslims - will remember how he was informed of his death sentence at the dawn of the Eid al-Adha feast, which recalls the would-be sacrifice by Abraham, of his son, a commemoration which even the ghastly Saddam cynically used to celebrate by releasing prisoners from his jails. "Handed over to the Iraqi authorities," he may have been before his death. But his execution will go down - correctly - as an American affair and time will add its false but lasting gloss to all this - that the West destroyed an Arab leader who no longer obeyed his orders from Washington, that, for all his wrongdoing (and this will be the terrible get-out for Arab historians, this shaving away of his crimes) Saddam died a "martyr" to the will of the new "Crusaders".

When he was captured in November of 2003, the insurgency against American troops increased in ferocity. After his death, it will redouble in intensity again. Freed from the remotest possibility of Saddam's return by his execution, the West's enemies in Iraq have no reason to fear the return of his Baathist regime. Osama bin Laden will certainly rejoice, along with Bush and Blair. And there's a thought. So many crimes avenged.

But we will have got away with it.

congrats fella, now would you care to elaborate a bit on our game status ?

see its pretty much straight forward, if you dont want to continue a GC you say excately that.. capitulate and tell me your pissed off cause ya lost some tanks and whatever the reason is that makes you ignore me since our last battle..

never mind that we're only 4 battles into it, also you could simply pull your bats back and let me do the attacking, your russians so you hold most of he map means you win if it ends like that.. but no, instead of that or simply beeing straight and telling me you give up, you choose to act like we never played ?!

seriously man, if you cant even tell a random dude on the net what you think then god help you in real life.. :lol2

a shame really, since your new like me, so we're pretty much on the same level and on top of that your from the uk aswell, wich is quiet handy Gmt wise..

I'm relative new to CC, only play(ed) CC5, and i would probably stopped playing it very soon if it wasnt for MultiplayerGames, i.e Gamespy, because the AI is utterly useless, i snuffed them easely even tho i had almost zero understanding of the game..

just wanted to say, this site is great and helped me with my little problems i had at first.. so if something is unclear to you just open a thread about it and wait, i'm sure peops will help as quick as in my case.. simple rule really; if you dont ask you wont get an answer.. logic no?

and most fellas on gamespy are pretty laid back and noob friendly, yea it could be more crowed at times, but then not everyone has as much time at hand as i do Very Happy

and Cowmando;
you only saw one player on Gamespy? well that could be because you didnt went into the Mainlobby, just like i did at first..hehe i only went into those other 2 or so rooms and there nearly always empty.. you have to open gamespy then under mygames click on CC5, a window will open, and now you click on Mainlobby - and voila your in multiplayer heaven.

incase your looking for someone not to bad ass when it comes to skillz, i would love to play GC against you, drop me a pm or find me on gamespy (BlackSn)

interesting thread, reminds me at an old song;

its called '' Universal Soldier''

He's five foot-two, and he's six feet-four,
He fights with missiles and with spears.
He's all of thirty-one, and he's only seventeen,
He's been a soldier for a thousand years.

He'a a Catholic, a Hindu, an Atheist, a Jain,
A Buddhist and a Baptist and a Jew.
And he knows he shouldn't kill,
And he knows he always will,
Kill you for me my friend and me for you.

And he's fighting for Canada,
He's fighting for France,
He's fighting for the USA,
And he's fighting for the Russians,
And he's fighting for Japan,
And he thinks we'll put an end to war this way.

And he's fighting for Democracy,
He's fighting for the Reds,
He says it's for the peace of all.
He's the one who must decide,
Who's to live and who's to die,
And he never sees the writing on the wall.

But without him,
How would Hitler have condemned him at Labau?
Without him Caesar would have stood alone,
He's the one who gives his body
As a weapon of the war,
And without him all this killing can't go on.

He's the Universal Soldier and he really is to blame,
His orders come from far away no more,
They come from here and there and you and me,
And brothers can't you see,
This is not the way we put an end to war.
